Q: I have a regulated power supply that outputs 13.8 vdc (at 4.5 amps). will it damage the laser?

Personally, I wouldn't go above 13v max. You can blow a diode laser if you run too high a voltage and every manufacturer is different. If you do go out and buy a 12v power source, make sure to check the voltage with a meter before using. Most 12v power sources run several volts higher than advertised.

Q: Is this laser skin safe? Will it damage or burn the skin?

It will pinch your skin a little if you focus it right on your hand. That's it. Lasers are much more dangerous to ones eyes than your skin.

Q: What is tbe diference in color of lazer. What are the 100nw and 850nm. Vigger number higher power?

100 mw is 100 milliwatts, or 0.1 watts, the optical output power. While 0.1 watts is very little when speaking of light bulbs, with lasers it is intense enough to cause permanent eye damage. Laser-safety glasses or goggles designed for this wavelength are highly recommended. 850 nm is the wavelength. The human eye can see light in the range 380 nm (violet) to 700 nm (deep red). Wavelengths shorter than 380 nm (ultraviolet or UV) or longer than 700 nm (infrared or IR) are not visible to the human eye. At 850 nm, the light from this laser is completely invisible, making it all the more dangerous without appropriate eye protection, because you won't know it is entering the eye until the damage is already done.

Compact clean design but expected much higher power output.

Nice little compact unit. Mine came with board mounted to laser body. Has 12v plug jack as well as +/- leads for powering. Not enough power for what I was expecting however.
