Easy Installation
Used for "made for TV light fan" to work in recessed side socket. Worked perfectly for giving an "L" fixture to screw in the light fan,. Product was as advertised and worked perfectly to solve problem. Quick service.

Perfect extention for angled fixture
Well made and does what it is designed for. One review stated it does not adjust to a full 90 degrees. In fact, it does. Might need a light coat of WD40 on the ball joint to get it moving full swing.

Simply does what it's what it is supposed to do.
These saved me from reworking a basement ceiling, a workable solution to reposition some lighting. They don't hold position after awhile, but I have heavy LED / Bluetooth speakers installed, not exactly what the were designed for. Overall, happy with the product.

Poor quality
This is a great idea but just not put together well. The male socket that screws into your fixture has sort of a ratchet that rotates clockwise to provide adjustment....good idea but it is so weak that you can't screw this fully into the fixture. couldn't get a solid connection. The female socket is just as weak. It seems to be deeper that normal, then the inside threads broke loose from the base the first time I screwed a bulb into it.

Worked great for the price
I have recessed lights in the ceiling in my kitchen, great room, and hallway. In the kitchen and hallway it's not a big deal to use a standard CFL or LED, but there are only two in the great room, not well positioned, and the LED's I have in there now were recessed so much in the can that I thought maybe by extending them towards the bottom, I'd get more light in the rest of the room. Since the ceilings are 14 feet up, I couldn't get an accurate measurement. I knew it was more than the inch or two of the other extenders, so thought I'd give these a try.Unfortunately these are just a tad too long, so the lights stick out an inch or so on the upper side of the light (sloped ceiling)while almost even on the lower edge. I won't keep these permanently if I can find a slightly shorter version, but for now they do the trick and it did help some in the rest of the room. They were easy to use. The ball joint is VERY stiff, so it doesn't move easily, which is ideal. I ended up having to use a pole I have with the suction cup end to screw in the flood lights after I screwed these into the lights. I had no problems with how far the button extends for the male socket end of these, it went into the sockets in my recessed light fixtures fine, nice and tight.I had expected the white part to be a ceramic or something, but it's just plastic. It doesn't appear to be structural at all though, so it should be fine.

Well-made and works beautifully.
Used to extend in two old housings that could not be removed from ceiling. Added new lights.

won't flex 90 degrees - fixed
I bought four of these for some stage lighting and all had this problem.First the positive. This was the only unit I could find for this purpose that was not a standard "goose-neck". I just wouldn't trust that design to hold a flood light, not even a lighter weight LED flood. Second, the peculiar. The ball swivel has a "stop" so it can't keep twisting the wires inside as expected. But in addition, the threads have ratchet that clicks when the unit is screwed in clockwise. Maybe this was to prevent over tightening, but the effect is that you can't screw it in "tight" like other bulbs. And because the ball swivel is purposely stiff (to hold position), aiming the bulb with a counterclockwise rotation risks unscrewing the blue. The remedy is to hold the square base (just above the socket) when aiming the bulb. Third is about the failure to flex a full 90 degrees. Many of you don't really need this much flex, so you can stop reading and go aim your light. My application is on the side of a ceiling beam so I need the full right angle. I don't think this failure is dangerous, as long as you don't use excessive force to make a right angle. That might break the wires. I was able to repair the problem, but of course the customer should not have to tinker with the product. Big Caution for any of you like me who like to tinker: be sure to keep the ball assembly securely in one half of the cover. It has a strong spring inside that is almost impossible to put back together if it comes out and pops apart. The unit is factory assembled in the straight position and the wires are pulled tight from the ball into the rest of the housing. The housing has something of a chamber for the wires before they connect to the socket itself. There is part of the housing between that chamber and the ball that pinches the wires. So forcing the ball to flex a full 90 degrees is not successful and might damage the wires. The fix is to pull some "slack" from the chamber under the socket into the area above the ball, You need forceps or needle nose pliers to do this and it is hard to keep the socket parts in place. So "slack" is not quite the right word. Once there is enough wire in the ball area to let it flex to 90 degrees, you can carefully re-assemble the unit. In summary, if you don't need a full right angle, it is fine. If you do, yes it is poorly put together, but remember in most cases, it will only be aimed once or twice when it is new. I am confident it will serve me well after the fix.

Perfect! Works as advertised. Not high quality but also only $8.
It works perfectly! Just as described. To avoid difficulties, adjust it to the angle you want before screwing it in. The joint is very stiff. I’m sure WD40 would fix this. But I didn’t bother. It worked just fine. I’m sure there’s a higher quality version of this out there. But this one works perfectly.
