Pepper's Journal: A Kitten's First Year (MathStart 2)

This book talks about a kitten's first year by reading a girl's journal on the topic. The book shows the month in the corner and how old the cat is etc. i am not sure how effective the book is at teaching the months of the year, but it does give the feeling of time passing. I would say that of all the book I own from MathSmart (mostly level 1 with some level 2), this has the longest amount of reading and a lot of pop up fact son kittens everywhere. I would say the book is more for age 8 or higher. I would nto even attempt to read this to anyone under first grade.

Great book for teaching math concepts.

Readers follow the growth of a new kitten throughout his first year. The highly engaging story features a brother and sister who wait for Pepper to be born, adopt him when he's old enough, and then care for him as he grows. My children spent a lot of time focused on the changing calendars and adorable illustrations, which highlight the storyline perfectly. I'm a big Stuart Murphy mathstart fan, and I think this book is his best work.
