Philips In-Ear Headphones SHE2100GY - headphones (In-ear, Black, Grey, 12-22000 Hz, dynamic, neodymium, Wired)

These are actually great headphones for the money. Even if they were more expensive, they are far better than any headphones at this price point. I'm a bit of an audiophile so I usually prefer something with better sound, but make no mistake, these are good!

It's a $12 pair of ear buds. You get what you pay for. I've been using this brand for the past ten years or so, buying new ones when old ones break. They're cheap enough that replacing them once a year to once every two years isn't a pain. However, my most recent pair lasted all of two months. Without any noticeable damage, the right earbud just stopped worked. I made sure it was plugged in and tested it on two different devices. The right bud just won't play anything.

They do not fit or stay in place in my ear. Consequently, the sound really suffers, particularly the bass frequencies. These need to stay fully inserted to deliver nice full bass tone. I can tell that when I press and hold them in place, they sound quite nice. So I suspect if these fit you, they will sound pretty good. I am not so lucky, and it is not worth the cost of return postage to send them back for a refund. They do seem a bit sturdier build than some of the cheapo ear bud out there. But with the way they don't fit or stay in my ears, the sound is tinny and thin, and lacks any bass or lower midrange.

Everything sounds more tinny (exaggerated high frequencies) than I would even expect from earbuds. Human voices sound a little off. But they're good enough to still enjoy my music, and at least everything sounds crystal clear.They're far better than the two pairs of ~$10 JVC earbuds (rest-in-ear, and plug-in-ear) (sorry, lost the model numbers) I bought from Walmart, from which everything sounded horribly muddy.I'm still on the hunt for the perfect rest-in-ear earbuds. The earbuds that came with my Walkman were wonderful, but they are dead now because of my bad habit of running away from my computer while still wearing them. Maybe I'm expecting too much for $10.
