The wand holds the normal toilet paper firmly in its jaws and the extension gives you that extra reach without struggling.After wiping simply push the slide button to open the jaws while holding the wand over the toilet bowl and the soiled paper falls into the bowl then flush the toilet in the normal manner and when the water is clean rinse the wand jaws in the bowl.This procedure is clean and hygienic and gives you dignity and independence. I also have a second wand which is useful in applying ointment to my feet and back.

Q: Can toilet wet wipes be used with this?

depending on thickness of wet wipe it may not grab well; I layer 1 square of TP with the wipe and grab the TP side. push them both well into the fingers as you retract them. I find if you push the paper/wipe back over the end it doesn't have material flopping all over and gets to the right position to clean best.
