Q: Can this paper clay be thinned out with water for spreading?

You must add water to the paper mix. It would take longer to dry. And with any paper mache - if it's too thin it will flake off.

Q: If I covered the face of a styrofoam mannequin head could I peal the hardened mache from the styrofoam to make a mask? Or will it permanently stick?

Don't know about styrofoam but I've made round boxes using a bowl. I first cover the bowl with waxed paper and the dry clay pulls away easily. I think you would probably have to cover the styrofoam and then slice your clay in half to pull it away and then repair the cuts. Hope this helps. Would like to know if it workd

you can, but i find the colors more vivid when painted after the project is dry.
