High quality mat, looks great on a plexiglass or clear glass platter.
So I installed a new cartridge on my U-Turn Orbit that ended up being shorter than the previous one which was causing the tone arm to get hung up on the arm lifter. I didn't want to ruin the nice look of my clear plexi platter so I picked up this mat. It works great! I always placed my records directly on the platter and continue to do so with the new mat. My records make better contact all the way across because of the recessed label space on the mat and because of that I have noticed a slightly tighter and fuller bass response. This mat is a few millimeters smaller than the platter but it is hardly noticeable at all when looking at it because the clear plexiglass on both the platter and mat blend so well. Actually, I find I appreciate the slight difference in size because it makes it easier to pick up the records from the platter having that little extra space for your fingers to grip the edge. Before the new mat, I would sometimes end up grabbing the belt as I was trying to grasp the record edge since the vinyl and platter on the U-Turn Orbit are the same size. Over all, I highly recommend this product.

Should Have Done Sooner!
Had I done this years ago, I could have enjoyed this upgrade for longer, but done now.Nice product for a fair price and a significant improvement across Bass, mids and highs are noticed against the original AR felt mat. As per some of the research I have found, this is as good as a cartridge upgrade in my opinion. Again my knowledge on vinyl playback has increased.Hudson Hi-Fi answered my question politely and quickly and were good to deal with. I wish them all the best.

Much less static electricity
I have this acrylic mat on an Audio Technica AT LP-120 with a Ortofon Red stylus, and some budget audiophile gear. I picked the mat up on a recommendation from Channel 33 RPM's YouTube videos. I was having a lot of issues with static electricity building up on records after playing them, because of the dry heat where I live. Also our dog's hair is everywhere, and sticks to records with static on them (yes I wash my records and use a brush to remove light build-up during play, that's not the issue). This Hudson Hi-Fi mat has considerably lowered the static electricity build-up when I play records, and as a result, less dog fur build-up on the records too.I feel like my cork mat has a little bit nicer midrange warmth, but the acrylic platter has clearer high notes. I might throw the cork back on in the cooler months, when the humidity and coolness lower the chances of static electricity build-up. But I'd highly recommend this mat for those with similar issues to mine, and if you don't already have a turntable with an acrylic platter. $20 is a nice deal. My only complaint is that I'd like a version of the mat in purple.

Wonderful
Never purchased a slipmat or other things in replacement of the felt mat I’ve used with tables I’ve used over the years. I enjoyed this platter because it helped cut down on static production. It is a solid quality product, and the company is really cool. They encourage users to reach out to them to sign up to be a part of a first look, product user group of sorts. My cartridge caused some slight buzz and these helped cut that down considerably.

The best experience, ever!
When I received my Hudson mat last week, I was a bit disappointed. I ordered the transparent one but instead received black. Really no big deal but really preferred the former. I reached out to Hudson and they immediately sent out the one I really wanted and said I could keep the black one! Where else do you find such exceptional customer service! As to the mat? It's a night and day difference over the original rubber one. Although Hudson's is about the same thickness, it reduces static and dust almost 100%! When you look at the platter with the clear mat on, it seems like you have a brand new acrylic platter like the newer audiophile turntables have. It not only upgrades the TT but I feel that it also improves the sound quality as well. Quite often, the litte things make the biggest difference. Another good reason to get this mat is to check your anti-skating control on your TT. Even though I had mine dialed in, it was off by a bit. Since the Hudson mat is like a record with no grooves, you can place your stylus on it, turn your TT on and see if it skates one way or another. By tweaking your settings a bit, it will be perfect! All in all, I'm extremely pleased with the mat in general and Hudson's customer service in particular. Five stars!

The Hudson Hi-Fi Platter Mat is excellent. It is made well
The Hudson Hi-Fi Platter Mat is excellent. It is made well. The rough surface in the middle is so that your LP does not slip on this mat: it helps hold the record to the mat with a bit of a rough surface in label area. The label area in center is also recessed so your LP's stay flat. It is well engineered and well finished. Especially excellent if you have a metal platter or and MDF platter. Acrylic is the best platter material so if you don't have an acrylic platter this will do the same thing. It weighs about 8 ounces so it add a bit of weight, and on a belt drive TT that is a good thing. I highly recommend this inexpensive item. It will help isolate vibrations from your platter and also allow stylus to pick up more and better sound. You'll hear the difference.
