You spray the fabric with the spray before sublimating

Q: Can this be used on colored cotton/poly blend shirts?

It can be used on colored shirts, but the colors should be light.

Q: What type of blend is necessary to avoid fade? Is 90/10 sufficient or does it need to be more of a 50/50 blend?

At a 50/50 blend you should not experience ANY fading at all. For all Cotton, we recommend using Fade Stopper, our product that helps retain Colors in the wash. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09SFCFJJ5?ref=myi_title_dp

Q: Can I use this for black shirts?

In general, Sublimation ink is not visible on black or very dark colored fabrics
