Birthday cards is what I use them for. They are pretty, but the advertisement made them fly much better than they actually do. It scares the person more than surprises/pleases them.

These butterflies didn’t fly as high as I expected them to but I did manage to surprise my grands with them. Had to wind them at least 25 times and while they didn’t fly very high upward they did go a ways across the room. I had to do them over and over for them so it was worth it just to see them laugh and the looks on their faces.

These butterflies are pretty and have creative designs. When wound completely (about 45 complete turns), they fly. However, they don't seem to achieve much height when they fly - mostly near the explosion box in which I used them. Also, they were a little large to fit in the box I used, but I was able to cut the wings down a little for a better fit. I think they would probably be too large for a card, as well, but since I haven't tried that, I can't be sure. I think I would have been more satisfied had they been a little smaller in size.They seem to be fairly durable. I have tested the box several times and they keep working. I have also wound them up several times just for fun and they continue to fly. They are fun and I would recommend the product, given the limitation of size.

They barely flew and it was all over in 11/2 seconds. I DID not use them. They were duds. They never flew up out of my sample birthday card. They fluttered for one second and then fell to the floor.
