Shame about the proofreading
As might be expected from The National Trust, this is a beautifully produced book with superb illustrations from Beatrix Potter's original works. The book also provides an easy to read background to Beatrix's life, which is both enjoyable and enlightening. However, I cannot for the life of me understand why, having paid for the production of such a lovely publication, somebody failed to use a good proofreader. There are numerous grammatical errors and on at least two occasions, even Beatrix becomes 'Beatrice'. A great book, let down in the final stages because of a lack of routine checks.

A delightful read
I decided to read this book as we are off the Lake district soon and i want to visit all things connected with Beatrix Potter (Hill Top etc.) so thought that this book published to mark the 150th birthday of Beatrix Potter would be a good idea.It is a lovely book, very easy to read and enjoyable. Lovely photos and a nice insight into the life of Beatrix Potter.

Go on treat yourself to this beautiful and informative book!
This book arrived today and I simply cannot put it down! It is beautifully illustrated with Beatrix Potter's own watercolour drawings and other sketches as well as family photographs. It also very clearly paints its own picture of the life and times of Beatrix set in the frustration of London where she despised city life and the beauty of the Lake District and other places where the family holidayed. I have learned so much about her already and know I shall be dipping into this lovely book regularly once I have read it from cover to cover. I highly recommend it and it really is an inspiration and a joy to read. Also, importantly, I feel, you know you can trust the information contained within its pages due to the fact it has endorsement from The National Trust.

Beautiful photographs and a well-written biography
This book is a delight, with glorious photos from the National Trust and from archives. The biographical information is well-written, with sections on key books.
