Does what it says on the box.
A useful tool to do a very awkward job that Vailant boilers require on a regular basis. It would be easier to use on the diverter valve out of the boiler but it can be used, with care, to remove the cartridge with the valve still in situ. The latter saves time and saves disturbing the ‘plumbing’.In my experience, the cartridge lugs break off, so repairing the old cartridge is not possible.

Tools
Easy to use and good quality tool, all very durable and my son has added it to his tool box quite happily!

Fitted Brass Diverter valve, Pliers worked great.
This cartridge fitted my brass diverted valve body. The pliers worked in that they snapped off the tabs on the old cartridge so I was able to remove it with some long nose pliers using a screwdriver to lever the pliers and cartridge out. The new cartridge fitted and worked perfectly. Didn’t need all the supplied O rings and gaskets as I left the valve body in place but the grease helped make sure the Orings and cartridge pushed in all ok. Recommend if your after the pliers/tool and a replacement cartridge. Plenty of YouTube videos on how to do this job.

This item is just the tool with the red handles.
ignore the picture and the ambiguous description. Only the tool is supplied. You need to order the little cartridge separately. Not expensive but annoying losing a day with a leaky boiler. The job is more difficult than you would guess from youtube because a leaky cartridge is probably old and brittle and held in place with corrosion. I would probably have managed without the tool as i ended up breaking the locking tabs on the old cartridge when I used it.

It didn’t work
My boiler man came and put it in my boiler, a few weeks later I noticed it wasn’t working, so I had to replace it, not happy. It wasn’t cutting the hot water off. Radiator was still warm even though the Boiler was off. Cost me £120 to buy a new one and to have it put in.

High Quality Product.
This Handtool is very well made and heavy duty,The grips are plastic coated for comfort and the extended arms are made specifically to grab the cartridge on either side. with a coating to stop them rustingThere are many uses for these grips aside from the intended manufacture.Ideal for grabbing either side of a collet with milled slots, Mechanics and plumbers as well as heating engineers should take a look at these.

removal plier is a badly designed. I had to modify the end part to be able to extract the diveter valve cartridge.
