Last Christmas (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

Great collection but could have been more
Would have liked the additional tracks from the movie, such as the ‘hymn’ version at the beginning of the film, too. Most albums like this include all the movie’s sound track but this doesn’t, which is disappointing. Great little album if you are new to George Michael or want the album as part of your George collection. The newly released track is included.

A de facto if incomplete Greatest Hits set filling a much-needed vinyl niche
Fans of both George Michael and vinyl have been rather underserved over the years. Faith is easy enough to find and the recent re-issue of Listen Without Prejudice took care of that one, but Older on vinyl is exceptionally hard to track down, and Patience never had a vinyl issue at all. As for Michael's two hits compilations, neither of those have received a vinyl pressing either, so this soundtrack LP comes closest to fulfilling that role, even if it does so only partially.Given that this is a soundtrack, the song selection is likely to have been decided by the dramatic needs of the film, so complaining that particular songs are absent is really missing the point. That said, it does tick off a decent portion of Michael's most memorable moments, and certainly makes for a solid listen, though the absence of 'December Song', Michael's other festive hit, in a seasonally-themed film is somewhat odd.So, although the artwork is necessarily based around the film, it is fairly well done and comes with full lyrics. The vinyl itself is actually very good indeed. These are 180g pressings, very flat and very quiet and the mastering is high quality, although I found the last track 'This is How we want you to be high' suffers from an excess of sibilant distortion (the 's' sounds are too harsh for non-audiophiles), an issue that does not affect the rest of the record. Michael's reputation as a songwriter and singer is justified, but I think he does not get enough credit as a producer, a role he took on all his work, and he made some awesome sounding records. It's great to hear them on vinyl and this pressing really does them justice. So, until the later solo albums and compilations get issued on vinyl, this is a good purchase for fans of George Michael and vinyl.

If you don't like Wham! or George Michael then buy something else!
Great album soundtrack, it's not just for Christmas! It's really like a greatest hits of George Michael/Wham! but just happens to be the soundtrack to the film of the same name Last Christmas.Nice heavy vinyl in a gatefold cover. I'd highly recommend. That is, unless you don't like Wham!, which begs the question why are you even reading this? But if that is the case then I'd suggest getting something like Queen - A Kind of Magic as it's basically the Highlander soundtrack with One Vision used in Iron Eagle!

Beautifully packaged, great soundtrack!
Even if you are not a huge fan of the film this is a great sound track. If you need an album of George Michael songs this fits the bill. I have lots of his albums but still enjoyed this, I didn't have a couple of the song versions so was a bonus buying it for my Mum and hearing the different versions. The gate-fold packaging is especially well done and thought out. Beautiful pictures. A true welcome companion to the film.

A really good vinyl pressing.
This is a good selection of songs with the bonus of one never before released recording. The vinyl pressing is virtually noise free . The actual film has not had the best of reviews but this release is highly recommended.
