Superb TV for the price range.
First off, in broad strokes, I work for a company that independently tests TVs and certifies them so I have access to lab technicians that test the hell out of thousands of TVs.I saw that the price had dropped on this TV and was incredibly cheap for what I'd seen in the lab.Amongst the techs in the lab it's widely agreed that at most price points HiSense produces some of the best looking panels you can get, second only to LG.The only snag is that you have to spend some time setting it up to get the settings just right as out of the box, these TVs seem like they aren't anything special. Now if you buy this TV you aren't magically getting the equivalent of a £2000 TV, far from it, but you are getting something that you would usually pay at least three times the price for.The UI is responsive, the picture quality is excellent and the features work exactly as you would expect. There are no frills here with regards to the software but it does perform very well. You won't feel like you're using a cheap TV at all. In my opinion the UI is smoother and more responsive than most Samsung TVs. Believe me, we use TV UIs a lot in the lab and there are some absolutely awful user interfaces out there. Even on what you'd think are high end TV sets. The second possible snag with with HiSense is build quality. For the most part, I've never had a problem with the build quality of a Hisense product, however, I've heard of several people receiving units that have cases that don't snap on quite right, that are bent and so on...so whether or not you get a perfect set seems like luck of the draw but your chances are very high that you'll get a unit that is just fine. This particular unit has nice thin bezels, it isn't too thick but is nothing to shout about. It is quite utilitarian, but at the same time, it's boring enough and modern enough to not look or feel cheap. It's just very generic.Overall, great TV for the price just spend some time going through the picture settings to get the most out of this TV. I'm not going to list off what I changed here as picture settings can be very subjective and they depend entirely on the type of content you watch and your own expectations. Just make sure you when you're adjusting the picture settings that you playback the highest quality content you can. Tuning using a 720p YouTube video is probably not your best bet, just saying.Out of the box my set had the latest firmware on it and in my opinion the settings were ok out of the box, but nothing was popping. I mostly adjusted the Dolby Vision settings to be honest. Finally, the upscaling on this unit appears to be excellent. Putting a 1080p signal in from a TIVO box and observing the content, it does a very good job of upscaling to 4K. It's obviously not miraculous, but from most viewing distances most people won't be able to tell that the signal isn't 4K.The brightness of this TV is good without being being obnoxious in any way in a bright, sunny room you might have some issues but for the most part it's bright enough to deal with a reasonable amount of glare.Viewing angles are pretty solid too. I have the 50 inch model in a relatively large room and honestly at this price point the TV punches well above its weight. This is simply the best value 4K TV right now. You will have to pay at least twice as much to even approach similar quality.

It's a bargain
We replaced our old 1K TV with this hisense 4K. It's a great leap forward in image quality. Even normal 720 and 1K resolution image looks enhanced (probably because of better colour contrast). After comparing the prices, we decided to try hisense instead of samsung or sony. The quality just look very close to the low end samsung we found in store but with only half the price.Sound quality is not great, but it is compatible with our old sound bar. It even allows sound bar volume control directly using the TV remote (needs ARC HDMI). And we also wired our DVD player to the TV-sound bar system so that the TV remote also works for our DVD player. It also supports Google Chromecast, and only the TV remote is required to control Google. This will greatly enhance the smart system - it's built-in VIDAA OS has a great selection of apps already but we need Google Chromecast to install a few minor apps (nebula etc). The only issue we have is that the TV has a tendency to lose signals. Occasionally, TV channels just disappear mysteriously. Sometimes they come back by itself, sometimes we have to re-tune the TV to speed up. This is a bit annoying, and hope it will be fixed in next firmware update.Recording TV show is supported with an external hard drive. But only 1 show can be recorded at a time. It is a bit frustrating as we are used to record many programmes at the same time on our old TV. But i suppose most people will only need to use the built-in bbc or itv apps to watch catch up.

Awesome
Bought this TV to replace a 4-year old…. Yes, JUST 4 year old 49” LG TV (Model:LG49UJ670V) that developed a “Blue LED backlight array” issue (search it on Google, you’ll find lots of LG customers complaining of the same blue tint problem that cannot be corrected by adjusting picture settings… believe me, I tried). So, I decided not to go down the route of trying to replace the whole TV LED array and instead did a search for a new tv. I’m very glad I found this make/model. I haven’t had any Hisense products before now but, one helpful review I found advised this brand. When I found this model in the size I wanted, I read the reviews and they were all stellar x5!! I have to agree… so far, the picture quality is fabulous. I have a BOSE sound bar that is excellent, so I wasn’t too fused about sound output from the tv but, the Dolby Atmos setting on this model was really good. There are lots of smart features and Apps available and the VIDAA app (once downloaded and registered) connected well, offering lots more apps, most requiring additional subscriptions!!I’m an Apple TV+ person with that wee box that does everything, so I probably won’t use any/all of the Smart features through this TV, but they all look great and seem to work well. I’m just glad I have an extremely sharp/clear picture with no blue tint that I can’t correct/eliminate and for once, blacks really do look black… not a dark grey!!!Hisense, you get ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me so far!Just hoping this tv lasts more than the 4 years the last (LG) one did 🤞🤞
