The Essential T'Pau

The track selection across the three cost is very good and the new and extended versions are very welcome.

A great band breaking first in the USA and then consolidating their success into Europe and Australasia. Burning brightly but by album number 2 ,Rage , they were seeing diminishing returns. By the time album 3 came along the band was more a less a spent force. Puzzling because each of the 3 major label albums were strong. Music tastes particularly in Europe were pulled toward a more dance orientated flavour. The US Market edging toward grunge in the early 90’s. Perhaps a factor in the groups demise or perhaps the woeful choice of singles the record label picked to promote the 2nd and 3rd albums….Road to Our Dream, Only The Lonely, Walk On Air etc. Ballad heavy singles. Stronger tracks like Island, The Promise, Arms of Love puzzling overlooked for 7 inch releases. A brave single choice like ‘Soul Destruction’ was held back as the 3rd single choice on the 3rd album. Perhaps as the lead single the album may have reached a wider audience….Anyhow, a comprehensive collection of all the singles, b-sides and the Canadian Remixes of selected ‘Rage’ tracks…..Downside. No CD Booklet or liner notes. Just the 3 disc’s

Lots of unknown songs on this triple CD compilation. And it's not an accident, they are just not good enough to get on the charts. Only China In Your Hand-full lenght version-and Heart And Soul for my taste.

This 3 cd covers the bands hits and album tracks from the first 3 albums - plus some rare b-sides, 12" versions and unreleased tracks.Apart from the huge hits like "china in your hand" and "heart and soul" - it also includes the 12" versions of singles " Road to our dream", "whenever you need me" and "only the lonely"I bought this mainly for the canadian remixes on cd3 of "island" and "running away" as i had never heard them and they are great!The sound quality is superb! some people have complained about the card wallet sleeve or the lack of a booklet - which yes would have been nice but for £5.00 what can you expect the tracklisting is superb.

This tpau collection is superb some great memories here I managed to see them live in the 80s superb live band better live then on record in my opinion anyway you have all the hits here plus live tracks and remixes plus 3 new songs if you remember tpau or you was a fan this is a must have and the amazing thing is it’s only £5 yes that’s right only £5 for 3 cds
