Perfect for Pencils
Very hard, smooth surface. Nice, heavy weight, thick enough so that it will not wrinkle or warp. Perfect for pencil or pen drawings, the pencil blends amazingly since it is so smooth, you can go back and forth with pencil/eraser countless times without damaging the paper, it just looks prettier the more you work on it, and you can always erase back to white. Does NOT work with blending markers!!!! (I use Prismacolor. This paper was recommended for them---bad idea!! Even though it is not what I needed, I rated the paper highly because for what it is, it is beautiful paper.)

Tried the rest, Strathmore the best!
Strathmore papers are the best, as far as I'm concerned. You can find just about any paper for any type of artwork from this company. I am allergic to wood, so other papers don't work for me. This is made from 100% cotton, soft enough for easy work, yet stiff enough not to fold over while you work. I use this for colored pencils, markers, ink and it works well, no bleeding through to the other side. Highly recommended.

Factory seconds
I bought 2 Strathmore 14x17 Bristol smooth pads. It was too late to return them for me, but maybe this review will help others. The pages were hard to remove from the pads because the were bound with too much glue. The 2 pads are 3/8" different in size because they were cut wrong. The paper along the binding peels away by itself because there is not enough glue holding it. All this wouldn't bother me as much as the crescent-shaped creases in the center of both pads! Over time I have come to realize that Amazon sells damaged products that no one else could sell. Read the negative reviews- damaged cans, expired, or open packaging are some of the complaints. Look at what you get early and get your refund.
