Smart Card Reader Saicoo 2-in-1 DOD/CAC Card Reader and TF/Micro SD, Compatible with Mac OS, Win, Linux - Portable Version

I had high hopes for this reader because I truly dislike those long wires hanging from my laptop. Unfortunately, this did not work. I have a Lenovo Yoga, WIN10 of course. I tried all USB ports. I plugged my CAC reader from desktop to rule out it being my laptop's ports. Oh well.Updated 3/30/2017 - So far so good SaicooDirect contacted me and offered to send me a new CAC Reader but with the instruction to put the card in backwards. Now, I've been using CACs for about 17 years and had never had to insert it in with the chip facing down. Once I did that though, the SaicooDirect Reader has been working wonderfully. I really, really, dislike wires and the cord on this one is very short, which I truly appreciate. You have been redeemed and thank you for working so hard to make sure your customers are satisfied with their purchases.

Small and reliable. Excellent value and worked with MacBook Air right away. Only thing keeping it from 5 stars is that it is often a bit difficult to remove the CAC card. Would buy again.

I am a really patient person when it comes to giving products a chance but this product is absolutely terrible. i have no idea if it's just the one i recieved or if it is all of them but my product was completely TRASH! I tried plugging it in to me MacBook pro and my laptop failed to read it. i thought it was possibly my ports but all of my other devices work on them perfectly. i thought maybe it was because i was using it on a Mac OS so i switched it to a HP laptop with windows and same result. it completely fails to even read it. the only thing that happens is i get a blue light on the card reader. i installed the online drivers and everything and no luck whatsoever. there is absolutely no support online and the FAQs on the website are blank.. do yourself a favor and stay AWAY from this product and just use something else not made by saicoo. i guess i could return it but for 13 bucks is it really worth the hassle? I will never again buy a product from them. i have no idea how it got so many good reviews.

I bought this in February to have an easily portable CAC reader I could use with my personal laptop when doing Army work on trips or at home. Worked great for 8 months until recently the reader developed a short somewhere inside it and has intermittent connection problems with my computer (which kicks you out of any Gov system, and causes you to lose your work). Very cool/portable design, but apparently after folding the cord a few hundred times over the past few months, the wires apparently started to break.

Excellent device. My plan was to get the slimmest smart card reader I could find to velcro to the back of my surface pro 4. This worked exactly as I hoped. Cord length couldn't be more perfect if I measured it myself. Only worry I had was that the card couldn't be positioned so I could remove it when it was attached. However after some thought I decided this was irrelevant because a) I pretty much never remove this card, and b) on the rare occasion I need to the velcro allows me to do so.

Compact, easy to install, worked with all secured websites I tried, and appears to be solidly made. It's not clearly stated or visible, but your CAC card must be inserted with the chip on front of CAC facing down (magnetic stripe on back of CAC be visible on top).

The card slide is super tight and difficult to remove with bare fingers. The USB cord nearest the reader is forced to flex backwards to accommodate the USB ports on my device after one day the wire is showing wear that is concerning.*This is not a plug and play reader for CAC and has been frustrating considering it is being plugged into a device that worked fine with my previous reader.

Originally I couldn't get the CAC reader to work... after months... literally months and talking with Saicoo's customer support team I realized I was using the reader incorrectly. Most readers use the CAC cards face up. To use this reader you insert your CAC card face down. My mistake. Thank you for the great customer service Saicoo and a good quality and portable product. Fits nicely into my laptop bag and the cable being tucked away is fantastic.
