A Tool kit for every leader on profitable disruption!
A CEO’s playbook on how to take disruptions head on and rise above is here.Transformation in Crisis is unlike a lot of management books out there one way- It's authored by leaders who walk the talk, one by a professor who has been instrumental in shaping future leaders and the other who has turned around the fortune of his company. The 8 principles cited in this book, brought to life with innumerable real life examples, is the only analytical framework any leader needs to transform crises into opportunities for their business. So if you are a leader, an entrepreneur running an MNC or even an upstart, do get your hands on this book and make the most of all the anecdotal learnings on how companies, that are disruptors in their sectors, are getting ahead of themselves by converting challenges into rewarding opportunities.

Tough times don’t last but transformed companies will
A great book for business leaders, management students and all those who want to transform. The authors are very clear. They have seen the current COVID-19 situation (and future such crisis) as an opportunity. The eight principles are simple and easy to follow. The examples stay with us and urge us to work on our business strategy. Why be a disruptor, what is the need to prepare for different scenarios and why we need to transform are some well articulated points. This book is a must read. Philip Kotler has said “wish I have written to this book”, what more can I add?

A Very Timely “Field Guide” to Transformational Change
The origins of this book are pre-pandemic. It’s roots were a conference on the “Architecture of Disruption” in 2017 in Philadelphia. That said, this is not yesterdays’s news. Rather, this helpful and practice driven book leans deeply into the pandemic and its “upside down” impact on many businesses and is full of timely case examples. The two authors bring considerable experience to the table. Nitin Rakesh as a technologist, entrepreneur, a CEO. Jerry Wind, as a thought leader. Now, an emeritus Professor at Wharton. The book is long, 496 pages. The book is full of examples which is a great strength. The book offers a systematic way to think about opportunity driven disruption and innovation. The book takes implementation seriously. The book takes a global focus. The book offers a useful tool kit (pp. 452-484) which can be adapted and used by pragmatic executives and their advisors in leading strategic change. Indeed, a book with many strengths. The connecting thread is a commitment to “adaptive experimentation” and a courageous willingness by leaders to rethink existing “mental models”. No book is perfect. The other side of the coin involves very limited attention given to the dilemmas and difficulties in both “performing” (running the core business) and “transforming” (inventing new businesses) at the same time. That task, what I call “painting with two hands”, is the core leadership task in this perplexing moment. Indeed, on that front, another substantive chapter is needed addressing directly how leaders do this ambidextrous leadership work and what the expected problem areas are they will face. Finally, what is lacking here is what anthropologists call “thick description”, ie, going deep with a selected few cases. The cases used are real, current, all useful, but broadly focused vs. deep dives, more snap shots than motion pictures. More depth at times is needed. In sum, a book much needed at this time full of actionable ideas and methods. Well worth a thoughtful read.

Must read for business professionals, strategists and technocrats!
Authors have presented their ideas, experience, findings, and pioneering research in a condensed form for the consumption of professionals working in the areas of sales, business developments, management, and technology in simple, yet powerful words. The organizations must continue to evolve and transform to stay relevant in an ever-changing landscape. Authors have displayed an extraordinary knowledge of the business world and cited examples from across the world and various business fields such as IT, media, technology, travel, medicine, industrials, art, education, performing arts, cloud practitioners, AI, banking, digital transformation, and you name it. The book resonates with Mark Zuckerberg's famous motto: “Move fast and break things”. It goes a step further to define the framework and the process. It is a wake-up call for industry leaders and encourages them to expand their horizons. The COVID-19 pandemic has fast-forwarded technological advancements, and in normal times, the human dynasty would have witnessed these changes 10 years from now.Business leaders who are unsure about changes their organization needs and how to implement them will benefit from reading this book. Not taking risks is the biggest risk a company could take – companies must disrupt so as not to get disrupted. The foreword from Philip Kotler, father of Modern Marketing and Harish Manwani, Senior Operating Partner of Blackstone; and book launch accompanied by John Chambers, founder of CEO JC2 Ventures and the former Chairman and CEO, Cisco certainly says a lot about the content.
