ThomastikInfeld Spirocore 4/4 Cello A String - Chromesteel/Steel - Medium Gauge

This string is a lot more mellow on my cello than I had anticipated. Some descriptions come to mind: Bell-like, blossomy, ringy, pure without being tinny or piercing, open.It is easy to hear your own intonation when playing alone or in a group, so you never have to wonder if you are contributing to or detracting from group intonation. Paradoxically, they also blend well despite also being easy to "pick out."It doesn't have as good of projection as solid-core, heavier gauge strings such as jargar superiors or permanent soloists, so, don't get these if you plan on performing any concertos for large concert halls--but the projection is still decent.All in all, they are a hugely underrated string. They don't break the bank either, and they supposedly last "forever."I highly recommend this string to any who want a great sounding, multi-situational string that sounds great for a long time. You could spend 2x as much on larsen standard A & D's to only have them die 2x as quickly. Or, you could try this string out and realize you may like it better.

I've always been a bug fan of Pirastro strings. I was in need of an A string for my cello and decided to step outside of my comfort zone and purchased the Spirocore string. I read a lot of great reviews on this string and almost all made it pretty clear that this string has a bright sound. When I got the string, I was amazed at how thin it was and was immediately worried about the sound it would make. Bright doesn't begin to properly describe the sound this string made on my cello. BRIGHT!!!!!!! properly describes the sound. It sound like I was dragging my bow across guitar strings. It let off this tinny/metallic whine. Most definitely not for my cello. To be fair, it may sound good on a cello with an extremely dark/warm sound to it. I can't imagine it would sound good on a 'standard' cello.
