Secret ingredients make all the difference.
First, this tea is perfect. For the value, it can not be beat. I bought 1lb first at first, but realizing you need about 1/4-1/3 cup of tea per serving (For me- a 24ish oz tervis) I came back for the 5lb option. Absolutely worth it if you plan to drink this regularlyNow, for my personal favorites: Half&Half and Sugar tastes most like “restaurant” style, but heavy whipping cream instead of H&H is superb.Sweetened condensed milk is a close second to (see above.)(Never going back) If you can find sweetened condensed COCONUT milk, that plus a splash of cream is freaking delicious.Hope I was helpful:)

Honest review which addresses low rating concerns
I've been using this tea for a few years and am quite satisfied with the value and taste. I make a simple syrup that I put fresh mint and basil leaves in until it cools, then I refrigerate it. I brew the tea and refrigerate separately. When it's time to drink, I mix the unsweetened tea with the special simple syrup and either cream or half and half. I got the idea from ordering this and the restaurant brought out 3 containers and a glass of ice. You mixed it yourself at the table - awesome. Ok so 1) the dye in the mix. Just wear latex gloves if you're worried and do everything over the sink. The dye is part of the traditional beverage - just accept it. 2) The California warning. That warning is on so many products you'd have to remove EASILY 25% of the items in your house (or more). Before you complain about that, go purge everything in your home with that warning. Do you know how much of this stuff you'd have to drink? This is a 'treat' drink, no one is drinking 3 gallons of this stuff a day for 20 years. Don't sweat it !

Just Like The Restaurants
Thai sweet tea, or just simply Thai Tea to some, was what kept me coming back to Thai restaurants in the first place. Then I fell in love with their curries and it was all over. So when I found out I could make this delicious beverage whenever I wanted to for MUCH cheaper than the restaurants charge, I was psyched. This stuff tastes just like the stuff you get in those same restaurants. Though many places seem to have slight variations of the flavor, whether that is from the strength of the brew or other ingredients added is beyond me, but this is a good base to start with (and maybe end with). The recipe I use is as follows:8 servings @ ~~ 180 calories per glass (a little more than a 12 oz can of regular soda)1 c. Pantainorasingh mix2 c. Sugar64 oz (1/2 gal) WaterAs needed Evaporated or Whole MilkSteps:1. Bring water to boil2. Dump tea into a muslin bag like this one here >>>> Muslin Boiling Bag - Short - 5 " x 11 " (if you don't want to do that, then you can dump it directly into the water. Later, rather than removing the bag, you will pour it through a fine strainer. I just make a mess every time I use the strainer and this stuff can stain. Plus you can reuse the bags several, several times)3. Boil the tea for 3 - 5 minutes4. When timer goes off, add sugar, stir, and remove from heat5. Once the tea is cool enough to stick yer finger in it without getting burned (obviously do not leave your finger in there if it hurts!!!) take out the giant tea bag and gently squeeze it out (use strainer if no bag)6. Put it in a container (pitcher or something similar) and store in the fridgeTo serve:1. Fill a glass nearly full with Ice Cubes (this allows for the layering effect)2. Pour in tea so glass is about 3/4 full3. Slowly pour in whichever type of milk you've chosen to use4. Insert straw and it's YUM TIME!

Makes good tea...
I make mine in bulk in a concentrated form using 3/4 or more cup of the tea to 1/2 gallon(2qts) boiling H2O along with a cup to 2 cups Splenda(depending on amt of tea used) and let it set till it reaches room temp then refrigerate, when cold the tea grounds have settled to the bottom( I have just started using a cloth bag filter that is working out well but have to squeeze out the last bit of liquid tea) and I pour the brewed tea off into a 1 gallon covered pitcher add more cold water till with in a 1/2 inch of 1 gallon mark and continue to refrigerate. when my working gallon of tea I store in a milk jug is empty I pour it full from the gallon pitcher add 1/2&1/2 and start heating 2qts of water to start another batch.

Awesome flavor!
My grandson loves Thai tea. I make half a gallon of this every week. He comes by with the empty pitcher from the prior week and I hand him a fresh pitcher full. He likes to drink it as iced tea. It has a good strong flavor. And I let it brew for hours to get every bit of that flavor into the pot. I follow the directions on the package (multiplying the ingredients proportionately to make a half gallon). After brewing I strain the tea leaves and squeeze the daylights of them to get every last drop of flavor, then add sugar and half & half, and that is just the way he likes it. He says it is better than the Thai tea he can buy that is already in tea bags.
