The book really broke down what confidence is and took me in new directions I had not thought of before. Anyone would learn from this well written thought provoking novel, and will take away concepts that will enrich their own lives. There were many interactive self-examining questions; but the answers gave one the courage to say I can do that, I don’t want to be like that, and I can change that in my life. It is a straightforward book with practical solutions to all areas of life. It is one of the most comprehensive self-help books that I’ve read, and I am a much better person for reading it. Do yourself a favor, do not miss this novel of self-inventory, change, and self-awareness.

Good book if you're looking for self-confidence
How it talks about self-confidence, self-esteem and the ability to learn from the low points in life and work your way to bigger and better things if you put your mind to it and motivate yourself to get out and do better.

A Great Place to Start
"Confidence is about staring down your reflections, the many monsters in your past and smiling." That quote sums up what the author conveys very eloquently throughout the entire work. "Bloom" is a great blend of psychological and sociological theories and data blended with the author's own anecdotes of an early life full of low to no confidence. We've all been there. Whether we're the star quarterback, the homecoming queen, the freak, the geek, or just the boy/girl next door. This well-written self-help book explores the thoughts, feelings, and science behind confidence and offers great ways to bolster it. The best part--as mentioned above--is the author using himself as an example of what can ultimately happen when someone feels so helpless or lacks confidence so badly that they simply begin to exist and stop living, and what can happen when that is turned around. The book helps the reader take a good, long look in the mirror and begin the journey to being a person comfortable in his/her own skin.

It isn't pseudoscience, it's real.. and powerful
I was looking to feel better after some difficult circumstances and am happy I came across this. Confidence is a complicated force that we can all learn to boost. I found Bloom to be a very empowering read. It relies on the author’s many battles with his demons, and includes a variety of sound and practical advice. If you’re looking for a book written by ‘experts,’ this is not it. This books acknowledges the gaps in the literature and research, and isn’t afraid to tell you that you have to work at it. It is realistic, which I appreciate after combing through plenty of similar books. Personally, I’d rather trust the words of a recovering addict turned counselor than the beefed-up theories of others who have never been in the trenches. But that’s just me. I’m sure others will find help in this book as well.
