Wing Clipper Quilting Tool, Trim Down Tool for Flying Geese Units, 5.5" x 10.5" Acrylic Ruler

I had a stack of geese sewed and needed to trim them. Even though the method I used to build them was different than the suggested woth the ruler, I was able to quickly figure out how to use it for my geese. Minimal fuss flipping fabric or the ruler, no slots to try to cut in, just a solid, small, versatile , reasonably priced ruler for many size geese. I am new to making geese and I am happy with the finished pieces.

I just used this today. It made my flying geese blocks extremely easy & quick to trim - and I had A LOT of them! They came out perfectly. I used the 4 at a time method & trimmed very little - they are perfect.

This makes great flying geese. So easy to use.

I bought this at the recommendation of my quilting teacher. As long as we were making geese that coincided with the lines on the ruler it worked great. When we were trying to square up a goose that is 1/2” smaller than those on the lines I was confused and got another ruler to help square up. This item lost a star for that.

Making a quilt with over 200 flying geese pieces, I want to make sure each one is straight and lined up correctly. This ruler is will save the day.

This tool worked like a dream. I toyed with buying a Bloc-Loc for trimming my flying geese, but the price was so high and requires one ruler for each size of flying geese. I decided to go with this one instead, and it works amazingly well! I have previously avoided making flying geese if possible because I hate trimming them - never quite get that 1/4" at the point just right and end up with blunted points or "dead space" between units. With this tool, my units came out perfectly. Instructions are clear, diagrams are very helpful - even shows best practices for left-handed trimming. I am working on a quilt right now that uses 36 flying geese units, and I thought this would be the best way to go. Only problem I had was that it worked so well that I ended up with twice as many units as I need. Really needed to pay closer attention to the fact that with this tool you end up with 4 units, not 2. That's what I get for starting this late at night and not reading all the directions thoroughly! So, now I have a head start on my next quilt, and no more avoiding flying geese!
