Block salt is heavy!
The blocks of salt are standard and do the job. I am 82 years old and the driver just put the package on the floor. I asked him if he could put it on my porch wall so that I could unload it from there. He did it, but he kept muttering about how heavy it was and lifted it without good grace. He will be old one day.

Very very expensive!!!
I dislike the price immensely. Go to harvey water softeners own website and you can buy the same amount for £16.50, delivered.

Yippee
This is a first for me. I have had my softener installed for a couple of years now and always bought my salt from Harveys themselves. 95% of the time, the boxes would arrive dented or torn with broken salt blocks in them, sometimes quite badly and a fiddle to install in bits and clear the residual mess up afterwards. At first my complaints were address with replacement blocks, but there was little improvement. I was promised that they were looking to recruit there own drivers so they could take more care in transport............this never happened, surprise surprise! So I thought I would try Amazon. What a difference. My first order has been delivered and not a chip or a break in any of the blocks. Was this luck I asked myself? Not due to place another order yet, but it will be with Amazon for sure. Let's hope they can keep it up.Harvey may be rubbish with their salt block delivery, but the water softening unit itself is very good.

It's salt. Just like other salt, only cheaper.
The price difference between this and what I can buy from Tool Station or ScrewFix is just a few quid cheaper, but it has the added bonus of not having to get up and go fetch it! It's delivered to my door.Is it any different from the quality of salt I would get at the other places? I have no idea and if you could tell the difference, you are a salt sommelier! I don't drink the softened water in my house and there's no difference in its cleaning difference between the brands. There's no difference, just buy this stuff.

Always arrives broken or with perforated bags, courier unsuitable for delivering them
I've purchased this several times and they often arrive smashed up and the bag would have tiny holes in them leaking the salt out and creating a mess, however today's experience was by far the worst. When I opened the box, all 3 bags were completely torn down the middle and some of the blocks were broken. The product itself is good, but unfortunately it seems the courier isn't handling these with care and have been subjecting the boxes to heavy impacts by throwing etc.I would certainly reconsider ordering this if they solve the delivery issue.

The photo says it all
Just look at the photo to see what I received . All 6 blocks received like that in crumbs . One star is very generous

Broken blocks
This is the second time I have ordered these salt blocks and this time 4 blocks were broken, Strange that they were in an undamaged cardboard box which means they were damaged before they were packed so can’t blame the delivery. I had to use them as had no other option, next time I will open them all up and return any broken blocks because if I wanted salt powder I would have ordered salt powder.

Fractured blocks and ripped packaging
I thought this would be a straight forward purchase as it is such a simple product. However, I now wish I had taken better notice of previous negative reviews that complained of both broken blocks and ripped packaging. The whole point of using this system of water softening is to use intact blocks that can be stored in water tight packaging prior to use. What I received was a number of fractured blocks all in ripped packaging. As one other reviewer notes, the cardboard box that the product arrived in was in reasonable order and that suggests that the items were sent out damaged. Not good.Update: 'Salt to the wound': I now see that I could have purchased the salt blocks from another (non-Amazon) supplier for a much cheaper price. So, I am dropping my rating further from two to one star.
