Raw, Powerful, and Enlightening
This memoir is a powerful insight into the world of how survivors of sexual assault function. Although #metoo went viral after the Harvey Weinstein revelations, the groundwork for this movement was laid in the South in the Black community. Raw, powerful, and devastating. Inspirational. A tough but important read.

Wonderful addition to feminism and social justice
As an individual, this book really challenged my perspective on the classism of traditional feminist thought. As a professor I have this book on my reading list as an option for groups. It is written in a very accessible styles. It is like listening to her give a talk.

One of the most inspiring books
Girls. Read this book. I’ve read plenty of books from whatever genres you can imagine. And I’ve been craving a good book to read for a while. I feel like I’ve been starved of a good book in the past few years bc of all the market book that sells “quick success” and woo-woo stuff being shoved down my throat. But this book has substances. Tarana told of a lot of her personal accounts that I’ve never learned publicly and they are RAW and well-written, complex, and nuanced. It makes me feel related to her story, not as perfect or superior, but deeply complex human being with traumas, flaws, courage, and a spirit to fight for the good. I the candor of the writing made me touch some of my emotional demons. It really made me finish with a feeling of awe and inspiration as a woman and once a little girl.

Incredible story, but triggering
Tarana's story, her drive, and the impact she has made on this Earth are incredible. I was not prepared for the amount of trama that she endured or that was around her during her life. It is painful to be aware of it, but I suppose that is what is needed so we can make a change. For those that have experienced similar trauma this book may be very triggering.

Great Book
Unbound was an interesting look into the liberation of a woman’s pain, wounds and a prisoner in her own mind. It was uplifting to know you can escape even your own pain and suffering.

Brilliant memoir of the extraordinary Tarana Burke
I remember the reverberations of the #MeToo Movement, and how it radically changed my life for the better. I first became familiar with Tarana Burke following her podcast interview with Brene Brown in Unlocking Us, and I fell in love with her work, movement, and spirit ever since. Few books stay with me in my heart and mind for months after I read them, but "Unbound" is one of them. She graciously takes us back through her childhood, experiences in her own motherhood, and how the work of advocating for sexual assault survivors kept finding her. Her honesty, grace, compassion, wisdom, and pure courage are what our world so desperately needs, and this was such an empowering read for myself.

Wheeewww
This was an amazing read. So much emotion was released from within me as I read through this books pages. I downloaded a purchased copy from amazon, but I think I was to add the physical book to my shelf as I can see myself reading this memoir again and again in the future. Tarana's strength and resilience is so inspiring and her story so familiar. I can see myself returning to its pages for inspiration for my own journey.
