Hard To Find 45s On CD Volume 16: MORE 80s Essentials & Beyond Pump up the volume! No single phrase captures the sound of the 1980s better. Big, loud, bold, and brash - even the ballads had power! The '80s were the last golden era of Top 40 radio. This was a magic time when the best music was also the music that filled America's airwaves. Artists like Bruce Springsteen, Michael Jackson, U2 and Prince were at the absolute zenith of their commercial careers, but that was only half the story. - What made radio in the '80s so irresistible were the unexpected, out-of-nowhere hits of every conceivable stripe. We heard it all, back-to-back: hair-sprayed heavy metal, glammed-up dance grooves, artsy folk, funky hip hop, bass-heavy reggae, angry punk, and brightly painted pop. Now, Eric Records has bottled that lightning in the second of the first two new volumes of our flagship series in four years: Hard To Find 45s on CD, Volume 16: MORE '80s Essentials & Beyond. Filled with rare songs and scarce single versions, this disc will transport you to a time when greed was good and MTV actually played music videos! - On MORE '80s Essentials & Beyond we present exactly that sort of eclectic mix to the max - sharply remastered and smartly sequenced for the ultimate '80s experience! Only in that biggest of decades could you hear George Thorogood's blistering blues "Bad To The Bone" (presented for the first time on CD in it's single version) next to Soft Cell's synthesizer-soul medley "Tainted Love/Where Did Our Love Go" (heard here in it's super-rare radio edit). Your head will spin as you jump from Roxette's power ballad "Listen To Your Heart" to Modern English's new wave anthem "I Melt With You" (the stereo single debut) to Inner Circle's "Bad Boys," which became one of TV's most recognizable themes thanks to the show COPS. And, we've collected both of Suzanne Vega's biggest hits - the D.N.A. remix of "Tom's Diner" and perhaps the only #3 hit about child abuse, "Luka." - Those are just a few of the 20 hot tracks (13 Top 20 hits, three #1s - 79 minutes of music) that make this a totally tubular '80s adventure. Just like we've previously done with the '60s and '70s, Hard To Find 45s on CD, Vol. 16 brings you the best of the '80s and early '90s in audiophile-quality sound and original radio-hit versions. On MORE '80s Essentials & Beyond, the sound quality for these classic singles is the best you'll ever hear (just check out the SOUND SAMPLES below). Where's the beef? Right here! - Includes a 12-page booklet with complete song-by-song annotation and liner notes by Greg Adams. ERIC COLLECTION

Nice to See This Series Get Active Again
The "Hard to Find 45's" series is one of the few that's still putting out rare oldies in truly high-quality compilations. After a couple of idle years, Eric Records has put out two new volumes, mostly dealing with "80's, MTV-friendly singles. While just about all 45s are hard to find on CD nowadays, as are CDs themselves, there were three songs on here that I didn't have on CD: "Live is Life" by Opus, "Send Me an Angel '89" by Real Life, and "Bad Boys" by Inner Circle.Big hits from Roxette, Suzanne Vega, Styx, and Breathe are joined by minor but awesome chart hits "I Melt With You", "I Don't Like Mondays", and personal favorites "Major Tom (Coming Home)" and "Video Killed the Radio Star". "One Night in Bangkok" is also one of my all-time favorites.I hope the series hasn't abandoned the '70's and early '80's completely. There is a small but significant laundry list of songs from then I still don't think have been issued on CD. Some real rarities are on this CD however, which is good news.

Fun collection of 80s tunes with some hard to find gems
Collection CDs are usually hit or miss in that some have a handful of hits and the rest are filler. This one turned out to be a great listen. I have tried to collect all my favorite 80s new wave songs on CD and this one helped fill in some of those gaps. One of the tracks I bought this for is the Soft Cell - Tainted Love / Where Did Our Love Go mashup which is surprisingly hard to find. The other 2 were Tom's Diner with DNA and Suzanne Vega and the Bad Boys theme from Cops. As an overall listen it is a great selection, even the pop songs like Close To You by Maxi Priest were fun to have. The sound quality is great on all the songs and as a bonus one of the sound engineers from Eric Records quickly answered my email question!

A Real Great Series of Hard to Find Songs!
I collect all of Eric Records CDs. This 'Hard To Find 45s on CD' series is fantastic. They offer rare edits of songs that we listened to many years ago. I have found that the sound quality of Eric Records CDs is hard to beat. You can tell that they are fans of music and love their job. If you go to their site, you can suggest a song that you would like to have on CD... A Real Great Series!

Nice variety of 1980's and some early 90's semi-hits
This "More 80s Essentials and Beyond" does, as expected, cover mostly 80's music, with a few songs from the early 90's. Though I had previously managed to buy some of these individual tunes, this would be a handy collection for many songs that were not major hits. Some of my favorites are "Major Tom" by Peter Schilling; "Video Killed the Radio Star, by the Buggles; "Send Me An Angel, by Real Life; and "One Night in Bangkok, by Murray Head. On the whole, a nice variety, including a few good ones I had not heard before, like "Luka" by Suzanne Vega.

The sound is fantastic and unfutzed with
For lovers of 80s and early 90s music, these two CDs are essential to your collection! The sound is fantastic and unfutzed with. I had never heard some of the tracks before this CD, but I bought it to update the sound on some of the songs I already had. I look forward to more of this series.

Good Stuff on these Compilations, Well Done.
Being an older Dj, I'm a pain in the #ss when it comes to my music, and all my music is wav files, these recordings are excellent, and some hard to find. Anyone can download this from the Internet, for free, and that's usually how it sounds, like crap.

and to be honest with you I am VERY glad that I did
I found this album and I looked at it, and 'Hard To Find 45s '80's 'more' essentials' was a little more than I wanted to spend. I didn't get the first album, the 80's essentials, because I have all of them, but I ended up going for it and bought this album, and to be honest with you I am VERY glad that I did! I didn't have all of the songs on this one and with this acquisition I got all I wanted from the high school side of things, the songs that I didn't have already and some that I obviously forgot about. It is a good series this one, the hard to find 45's, because they have a lot of songs that if you didn't collect them, well, sometimes you would be looking for a LONG time for them. So I played with this one because I didn't want to spend a lot of money, nor do I for anything, but I went ahead and did it and I wasn't disappointed. Things do cost money, but if you collect a lot like I do, and try not to spend a lot for it, you can do it and some music to be collected just demands that, because I have the experience of it, but sometimes you just gotta do it! All-in-all, this album is worth the money and all that. See ya!

Great 80's songs
If you grew up in the 80's this a great cd with the exception of a few ballads ONLY because they are to mellow for me. Very happy with my purchase.
