Maria: Pope Benedict XVI on the Mother of God

This book is a stunning meditation tool. If you revere the Virgin Mary, then you will adore this gorgeous book. The size is a bit larger, and with the stunning photos of icons, it is a total feast for the eyes. The comments and spiritual guidance offered by the pope emeritus is very inspiring. Whatever you may think of the church or Catholicism in general - Benedict is a deep thinker and learned theologian. I'm middle aged now and I see how there was such a deep mysticism around Jesus and his family that takes time to fathom and appreciate. This book helps on that journey.

Not only visually stunning but full of deep Marian reflections by one of the great theologians of the modern age. A wonderful little book.

As a Catholic, I am once again proud to call Pope Benedict our(not just mine) German shepard. This wonderful theologian reminds us through the Gospels and Art in paintings and places of adoration of who and how important Mary is to us. Why God picked her and how she was instrumental with the Apostels in the formation of our comunion. His visit to the Marien shrine in the hills above Ephesus,Turkey (Mary's house), brought home to my wife and I our visit to the site three years ago. We knew it was a special place. But now I know why. And more importantly why Mary is our Mother."Women behold your son."

Great book!

When I received this book, I was surprised and even a bit disappointed at first. I was hoping it would contain more content. MARIA turns out to be more of a pictorial than a book per se, but nonetheless, it is a great collectors item and the content is exquisitely simple and eloquent. Each page is printed in 4-color and has a full color hard-cover in addition to the full color book cover. It is actually a very expensive book to print - certainly a great value for the price. To sum it up, the book is beautifully delicate and emits a devout love for our Blessed Mother Mary.
