Why is this thing so satisfying to drink from? Sensory input!
I love CamelBak, but I especially love this one. The reason why might surprise youāitās because of the sensory input it provides by requiring you to bite the nozzle and suck through the straw.Surprised? Let me explain. In the world of special needs (autism, ADHD, generalized anxiety, etc.), sensory management is super important for regulation. But truth be told, itās not just for those categoriesāitās important for all of us.Typically, when managing sensory input, we talk about three types of sensory regulation:-Vestibular (balance & movement)-Proprioception (body awareness & joint impact)-Deep pressure (calming compression, like weighted blankets)These sensory inputs affect brain chemistry, influencing mood regulation by impacting serotonin, dopamine, epinephrine, oxytocin, and other neurotransmitters. In this case, letās focus on proprioception input, which involves joint impactāthings like going up and down stairs, jump roping, running, climbing, and any movement that creates impact on the joints. This kind of input helps release serotonin (and others) , which has a regulating and calming effect. Thereās good reason people feel better after exercise! Now, hereās where it gets interesting:One of the most effective joints for proprioceptive input is ⦠the jaw.! Thatās the joint you get the most bang for the buck . Thatās why people chew on pencils, gum, shirts, or even overeatāitās a quick way to stimulate serotonin release. So why do I love this bottle so much? Because you have to bite down on the mouthpiece to get water out. That jaw engagement provides subtle proprioceptive input, which is calming and regulatingāespecially for sensory-seeking or anxious individuals. But thereās more benefit to the way, this bottle is designed: the sucking action itself also helps activate the parasympathetic nervous system, promoting relaxation and reducing stressāmaking it doubly beneficial for those who need both self-regulation and sensory input. All of that, added to the fact that this is completely spilled proof, makes these bottles the perfect thing to give a sensory seeking child or an anxious child. Also to any individual that has difficulty paying attention from things like ADHD. And Iām not too ashamed to say as an adult thats me Lol!I also like this newer design over the older eddy bottles. It has a nice curvature to the top area and, I donāt knowā¦Just seems so much more sleek.Super easy to wash too. I just tear it all apart and throw in the top shelf of the dishwasher.

Price and functionality make it worth it.
Lightweight design, great value, straw gets 99% of water. Can use without STRAW. Doesn't retain old flavors and smells like other bottles. Seals and opens great. One knock is that it is rather slippery, would recommend getting a sleeve for it to help with grip and insulation. For the price, can't be beat.

VERY PRETTY purple bottle. Stable & solid. CONFUSING at first!!! But Does work. NO LEAKS I think...
This item Looks GREAT.I love purple and it's a luminous, radiant, shade of slightly reddish, grape colored purple. So for looks it's great.I got the larger size because I thought it looked like it had a more stable base and it is incredibly stable. The Problem is: I almost throw it away because it comes with a soft rubber spout that's so weird and uncomfortable to use...In fact *at first* every time I started trying to use it, it made a whistling sound! I'm not kidding. šIt happened to be late at night (I'm living in an Extended Stay hotel with people potentially near by, though actually things feel very private and Quiet here thank God. B4 this I was at La Quinta which was insanely noisey and so imcompetent they have 3 strange men the key to my room! At 10 o'clock at night!! I'm lucky they were good men just in town working on some sort of construction project and they were at least as embarrassed as I was and even more annoyed because they had just been given a room to sleep in and instead of being able to move in and sleep there they had to apologize for the fact that they just walked in on a woman sitting on her bad probably writing on Facebook I'm just testing total ever just so you get an extra review here. Extended stay America not gorgeous but pretty Pretty high functioning. A little funky but high functioning. La Quinta looks great is terrible.Back to our water bottle review...I was trying it out for the 1st time and I couldn't even take a sip of water without making ridiculous whistling sound. Like a bird whistle!Plus the rubber chip that you're supposed to add made me feel like an infant nursing from a baby's bottle. I think that's the idea that I'm trying to like help you plug into some kind of like you know Plug into your Mommy issues to help you to encourage you to go into a sort of a nursing mode To get you to drink more water. But I just found it gross and awkward.I think I actually threw that part away.Plus, Another problem but probably this applies to All bottles of this type--if you only put a little bit of water in it, like you're just trying it out, it doesn't work at all.And I wasn't sure at 1st whether it was adding a bad taste to the water, so I just really almost gave up on this product. But, probably because it's so beautiful to look at, I persisted and decided to add more of my precious filtered water, good quality water with electrolytes, threw away the gross smushy rubber spout, and tried again. And once you toy with it for a while, it works quite well.It should not have been this hard for me to figure out how to use a bottle of water. šI'm getting more rather than less mechanical and techie as I get older.(As a writer I've had to learn how to operate on social media, even to the extent of running a Facebook group or 2 and having my own YouTube channel. I'm primarily a writer but I also do some visual arts sometimes, like collage or I make music videos actually, and sometimes I say. All of that is I consider amateur, sideline activity. I consider myself a semi professional writer, because I've been published a dozen plus times. Anyway, point, is I know how to use a computer and I'm more and more comfortable using all kinds of machines.)I really shouldn't need any of those qualifications to use a bottle of water. And the fact that we've made our bottles of water so damn complicated that a person who just wants a BPA free vessel to drink out with which they won't have to worry that it's going to tip over and spill...(I just moved in to the aforementioned hotel and I'm setting everything up, starting a new life, so to speak.)The fact that I should have to even think about whether or not I'm good with technology and machines in terms of whether I can drink out of a bottle of water is a sad commentary on how overcomplicated we've made everything.*But I wouldn't blame this bottle.* This very beautiful, stable, solid, very durable looking, seemingly leak free bottle. It's probably that they're ALL like that.I in fact did my best to find the simplest one, the simplest plastic drinking bottle, and I think that I actually, probably succeeded.šššLeaks aren't an issue for me because I'm not a hiker, but I just gave it a little test over the sink and it doesn't seem to leak at all.So although I almost do this away, the happy come-back story is that I've decided it works well. And It's so beautiful to look at that I'm definitely going to keep it and I'm going to figure out how to use it and be happy with it!

Great size and it doesn't leak!
The re-design on the lid to this Camelbak is wonderful. I have an older Camelbak water bottle that I still use. It has held up well, and works great- as long as you keep it upright. Lay the older one it on its side or hold it upside down, which might happen in your travel bag, and the air vents on the top of the lid would leak. The lid is now redesigned so while it still is easy to sip your water - it no longer leaks!
