Decimator MD-Cross Miniature SDI/HDMI Cross Converter with Scaling and Frame Rate Conversion

Decimators & DataVideo DAC-70s - Best Input Converters, for the money. Prefer Decimator MD-HX over this model. However, availability dictated this model instead.Default Decimators are configured as 1080 Output devices. Output is easy. We needed Decimators for Inputs on our Blackmagic ATEM 2 ME Production Studio 4K Video Switch. Our Decimators are now configured for 1080p 60 Input (Cameras & Computers) to 1080i 59.94 Output as required for default input settings on ATEM 4K.One thing both the Decimator MD-Cross and Decimator MD-HX lack, the ability to Rack Mount several units side by side. The included Rack Mount plate only serves to conceal and protect the serial number. Have not used the Test Screen feature.To Rack Mount several Decimators, we're currently using a 1U Rack Shelf 9" deep. The Decimators are installed using Industrial Strength Velcro, to the front of the shelf edge. They are mounted like the DataVideo DAC-70s - Front, HDMI Inputs; Rear, SDI Outputs - Mounted in SKB 6U Shallow Rack Case. Media Players (AppleTV & Roku 3) on shelf below. We can install 4 Decimators per shelf, side by side. No, we cannot read the screens. That's why we used Industrial strength Velcro! Once configured, there should be no need to remove them from the Rack. But we can if required. The only other complaint are the Wall Warts. No way to Power several Units from one Power Source from Decimator. Other solutions may be possible. Whereas, DataVideo DAC-70s Rack Mount is ingenious! DataVideo DAC-70s Rack Mount 8 Units in a 2U Rack. DataVideo DAC-70s Rack Mount includes a Power Amp to drive all 8 Units and includes all 8 Power Leads + 1 Laptop type of Wall Wart.The Decimators include all necessary Cables! And all in red! Nice touch! Decimators & Decimator cables stand out. Minimizes confusion of what goes where during setup. Whereas the DataVideo DAC-70s only include their own wall warts and no Micro USB Cable.BTW: Remember to use USB 3.0 port when programming! Try a USB 2.0 Port and the PC will freeze requiring a Hard reboot. Not good!We found the software much easier to use than the tiny LCD screen. The Latest Upgrade now indicates SMPTE Level A & Level B support! Download Decimator software from Decimator website. Why? Software took us 5 minutes vs 8 hours with manual and tiny LCD. Your experience may fair better than ours! Decimator now needs to come out with a 4K Converter in the near future! Hope this helps! Enjoy!

Does not work like it said it would. Not happy at all with this product at all. I will never purchase this item again.

This is the swiss army knife of SDI converters. Can do HDMI to SDI, SDI to HDMI, HDMI to HDMI, SDI to SDI. Can also up and down convert both resolution and framerate. It does SMPTE test patterns, and can send test tones too. Signature bright red housing is solid aluminum. Power connector is threaded so it wont get accidentally unplugged. It also came with a power adaptor that appears to be compatible with almost every kind of international power outlet, as well as a HDMI cable. This company could become the next Black Magic Design company in the future. I am only buying these vs the BMD mini converters since these do so much more and at a comparable price.

It's a really good machine that doing as scaler and Frame converter. I have to say that UPS Provide to do all,in really few days, very fast! Is a Unique machine, that provide also different formats from others. Is a bit expensive but is the only one.. And the new model contains also a text generator that you can use to text the wires or the monitors or machines connetcted to the item.Considerated that i'm in italy, i spent much money to import the item, and i have to say that UPS Provide to do all,in really few days, very fast! Once you have your settings locked in, nothing beats this thing, it's solid as a rock.Just be aware, it takes a little time to verify the settings with what you're trying to do...Don't think you'll just take this out of the box and interface machine A to machine B in 3 easy steps.In other words, test it out BEFORE you go to the gig.Once you have the settings ironed out between A and B, write them down in the manual! You'll be happy you did.

We were having a strange scaling issue which caused our Blackmagic to stop recording. I installed this and it has fixed the issue. I would highly recommend this product if you are having ANY frame issues.

This is the best HD-SDI Converter on the market. Ill never buy a Blackmagic Converter Again These do everything 2-3 BM converters can do but cost less! The Flexibility of these devices is incredible!

Only supports digital inputs, but works great. Not sure the Test Pattern Generator is worth the additional $100, but need to have at least one in the bunch.
