Amplicomms PowerTel M9000

Nice looking phone, thin and neat to hold , a clear display with large icons and yes easy to hear with settings you can alter. However I found the text function was really very difficult to use. The QWERTY keyboard seemed squashed and although you could turn the phone sideways my fingers felt too fat to use it and it took ages to get words even near correct! If you text a lot and are used to predictive text or want to use a browser a lot then I think you will find this difficult. I need that function as much as a good phone to hear on and sadly this did not offer me that. If you have been used to using a modern smart phone for browsing and texting fast I don't really think you would see this as having anything near the same functionality but its sound levels are great. One good tip is to download the manual from Amplicomms and read it, it is more comprehensive than the book that comes with the phone. Sadly I returned the phone as I could not manage without being able to text.

The one thing we found disappointing about this phone, as it is supposed to be mainly for deaf people, is the lack of a light on the phone which indicates whether there is a text or a missed call. The last Amplicomms phone was not a smart phone, but it had a light on the back of the phone which lit up when a text had been received or a missed call. My husband can't hear any phone ring, so this light was very important to him. On this new phone there is no visible indication of a text - you have to keep checking the phone - a great disappointment. Also, I am trying to get a cover (back and front) for it but apparently Amplicomms do not make a specific one for this phone!!

Very disappointed with this phone. It was good idea for oldies, but seems like it wasn't tested properly or thought through. If the sound is turned up it's very distorted and difficult to understand. It's also very difficult to send Text messages, because the letters are quite small, and you frequently get the wrong letter especially the ones on each end like Q,Y,A,L etc. You can't enlarge the text to make the letters bigger.Also quite a rigmarole getting your contacts sorted out. I still don't understand it completely and I've had it for quite a few months.I also bought a quite expensive leather case for it, but I wish I hadn't bothered.My conclusion. don't buy this phone.

Ce téléphone vendu pour les seniors avec problèmes auditifs et visuels aurait été le téléphone idéal pour mon père de 80 ans ! malheureusement il n'en est rien , en effet le volume extra fort est bien la , mais la réception d’écoute est incompréhensible dés que l'on dépasse le milieu du réglage volume à cause de la saturation et la distorsion de la conversation reçue avec en plus des vibrations du haut parleur si on passe en mains libres .Concernant les menus "gros Icons" , les touches pour la numérotation sont de dimensions correctes mais malheureusement en mode SMS il est impossible de conserver le mode clavier 3/4 (comme possible sur son samsung) uniquement proposé en mode Clavier AZERTY très difficile d'utilisation vue la taille des lettres et de plus ce téléphone n'est pas d'une très grande précision au niveau de l’écran et génère de nombreuses fautes de frappe.Par ailleurs il est inadmissible que le constructeur n'est pas pris la peine de traduire correctement tous les menus du téléphone en français ou il s'affiche certaine instructions en Anglais .Je fais une demande de remboursement de ce téléphone principalement pour sa très mauvaise qualité d’écoute ne correspondant pas à ce que j'attendais d'un téléphone Senior.

I bought this for my 94-year old mother. She's had mobile phones before but this was her first smart phone and I worried that the technology (the touch screen) might be a step too far. But, she's taken to it like a duck to water!Everything is easy to read and the home screen is well laid-out. Texting is easy and because the screen is big, she can see what she's writing. I thought another review had said that this phone didn't have predictive text and I almost didn't get it because of that. But, I took a chance and it certainly does have predictive text for messages.I haven't looked at the internet on it yet but Mum was able to access her Facebook account very easily.Phone calls are easy to make and the contacts list is easy to read. The volume can be turned up very loud (Mum wears hearing aids) and Mum is able to hear this phone better than her landline.It really is an excellent phone.
