Couldn’t be more relevant right now
I really enjoyed this. Relevant for more than the original planned audience thanks to Covid-19 forcing so many more people to work from home and very well written and engaging. The book makes you think about the way you plan all aspects of your working life and is packed with practical takeaways. There are some cracking stories too, although I think there could be more.

Well researched and practical
Geared towards those who are self-employed but also has good advice for remote workers. One of the better books on this subject.

Absolutely Brilliant!!!
I, like many have had some major changes in my working life. We own a hair salon and during the lockdown have been forced to close due to national restrictions.Whilst being at home dealing with the paperwork and planning I fell in to many of the same traps as detailed in this book. What I love about this book is how relatable it is and how nicely written it was. I cant remember being that engrossed in a book that I read it all in 1 day.Highly recommend!!

Some solid advice for solo workers
I enjoyed this book. Written with a warm, friendly tone, the author offers advice on a range of topics from loneliness to eating well. The book did seem to just ‘end’ - think I would have liked a more rousing conclusion. However, would recommend to anyone who is currently home-working or is self-employed

Not just for Soloists
I picked-up this book after being thrust into working from home by COVID. I work for a company but this book provides refreshing candour and great advice on how to raise productivity and improve well-being for anyone working remotely. Summarises great research from leaders in the field. Looking forward to putting the many tips and suggestions into practice.

The book I’ve been waiting for
I’ve been self-employed for over ten years now and this is the most useful book I’ve read on the topic (by a very long way). Working alone is hard, even for introverts. Thank you for writing it - it has already made a big difference to how I work and feel.

“Insightful reading for anyone working solo ”
I have been working solo for 6 years and this is the first book I've found on the subject which was well researched, honest and full of immediately helpful information. The author is relatable, warm and frank in her writing. The book is split into sections so you can dip in/ out to what is more relevant for you.I found the meaningful work section really insightful and it prompted a good conversation between my husband and I on this. The resilience and recovery section was thought provoking and something that I plan to implement.Full of tips and immediately helpful hacks - nutritious food, getting paid, importance of movement and power of plants (I now have a Peace Lily on my desk and it does bring me joy).

Exceptional book, easy to read but with profound insights
I found myself at a new office (still working for the same company), but essentially working solo. I looked for a guide to help me through transitioning from working on an in-person team to "remote." This book was a gamechanger. It's so well researched, doesn't act like there's a simple solution, but really provided deep, profound insights that genuinely have helped me be happier, more fulfilled, and more productive. A couple of simple examples that were key for me: you've got to build in little social interactions like saying hi to people you run into (social grooming) it seems useless but man does it help with isolation; you've got to manage yourself, which I've adapted to seeing myself as a worker that I actively manage (this helped me be more objective in how I manage my strengths and weaknesses). I know I've minced these examples and maybe they won't sound profound to you. But I guarantee that you will find in these pages something that makes your life materially better. To the author: thank you so much for writing this book.
