Live Beautifully: A Study in the Books of Ruth and Esther Paperback – June 1, 2012

This book is right on the money, it’s really uplifting as a great message and most of all it’s biblical highly recommended it!

What a great devotional! I love how it has questions to help me think more deeply about the text and the historical background details listed in the margins. It's been great studying this together with other ladies in a small group.

We chose this book for our ladies connect group,I like that each chapter is a five day study.you have time to reflect what you learned each day,also now GOD worked in & through Ruth &Esters life is the same way he is working in &through ours today is exciting what tomorrow will bring..I would definitely recommend this book for a ladies connect or group study

Great Bible study for women looking to dig deeper. I'm doing this study with a newer Christian and even though I've studied the Bible for over 25 years, we are both learning so much together!

Personally I am not enjoying this study at all. Pros...the Bible verses are contained in the book, so you don't have to carry your bible if you're traveling. Also, there is some background knowledge about terms and phrases along the margins Cons...the questions are written for elementary kids to answer. There is no biblical insight at all...they simply ask you to rewrite a phrase (ex. P.132...how did the king and princes repsond to Mermucans advice? Answer...it pleased him. Direct quote from scripture...). There hasn't been any insight, like in two different Bible translations the notes indicate that queen vashti could have been pregnant which is why she refused the kings request. THAT is important, even if the authors don't support that view, it could be side-noted. Further, the "live it out" section contains a couple of surface level middle school questions - see the photo for an example. Temper tantrums? Really? I am so disappointed in this book and I am completely dreading our small group discussion because my distaste for the simplistic questions and flat lined insight into scripture will clearly show through (oh wait...I may have to journal about the temper tantrum I am about to throw to the leader who chose this simplistic book). It would be appropriate for a group of 20 somethings or younger, definitely not a mature woman, at a spiritually mature phase in life.

"Live Beautifully" is an excellent study in the Books of Ruth and Esther. I needed a copy for a women's Bible Study group, and was delighted to find it available on Amazon for such a great price. Am absolutely loving it!!! Thanks so much...
