A very balanced account written in a very engaging style. The author has approached the book with a great deal of objectivity and despite being in the centre of all the happenings, has been able to pull back and record the same in a well documented manner. Its a must read for all those who follow the last days of the British Raj in India. It captures 'princely India' very aptly without it degenerating into a fairy tale, like many other books on the subject.
