Nice smaller mace spray
I attach this mace spray to my keyring. I like the small size, most mace sprays I've seen are much larger. This will fit in your purse or pocket very easily. Luckily I haven't had to use it yet, but I feel safer with it.

A Must Carry for Any Lady!
I have carried this model on my keychain since 1996! And it doesn't look like much, so I have managed to get it past a lot of security checkpoints at concerts and such. I have actually had two unfortunate occasions when I had to use it. An unleashed dog charged me when I approached his house, growling and snarling. I waited for him to get within ten feet of me and started spraying its squirtgun-like stream at him until I got him directly on the nose. He yelped and turned tail instantly. When he got back to his stoop, he looked back, wondering, "WHAT WAS THAT?!"The second occasion, and using the same unit, was when a big, burly man charged me and was about to tackle me like a linebacker would. I did something to anger him, long story. Anyway, I sent a stream right into his eyes and stopped him in his tracks. He asked, "What is that?" I told him it was pepper spray and left the scened so I wouldn't have to have a whole police report interview and possible ciil suit against me. I was an EMT at the time and knew that he'd get better care if he could tell the first responders that pepper spray was used on him.

Non-lethal protection
Item showed up fast and was just as advertised. Many thanks, as there are a lot of stray animals in my neighborhood.

Small and easy to use
I love this little pepper spray product. This device is the size of a travel-sized mascara and is super easy to carry around. I do have others, but they are all the size of small flashlights, so quite cumbersome and I will not carry them. The convenient attached cap closes snugly and keeps the device from triggering unintentionally. The pepper, itself, is intense. Once, I accidentally pressed the trigger very slightly and the resulting tiny spray caused people within 6 feet of me to evacuate (myself included!)I have purchased these many times to give to my friend's kids as graduation gifts when they head off into their adult lives. I occasionally lose mine and when that happens, I immediately buy myself a new one.The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that the nozzle tip fell off unnoticed. I have only owned it for one year (and only used it that one accidental time.)

Great Item
I've searched far an wide for keychain OC that wasn't bulky. This is by far the most compact I've found and I can't cite a single (major) flaw with it otherwise. I have not seen the effects of this particular formulation on a living creature, but I have been OC sprayed several times for training and trust me, OC works quite effectively ("Mace" being the generic civilian term for oleoresin capsicum). My experiences have mostly been with standard 10% OC and that is supposedly what this contains. You certainly don't want to get that stuff across the face! It's the "devil's p*ss"...I did a short test-spray once I got it and the rage and accuracy, while not terrific, were nonetheless better than I expected from an item so small. I was ultimately satisfied because I don't honestly think you could possibly get a longer or more accurate stream from an item this compact. It would be wise to buy an extra reload of solution and use one of them to practice with before carrying it.My only critique is that it takes a little bit of practice to learn how to pop the cap and engage the spray. You want this to be muscle memory. Fortunately, it is very easy to practice. Some other OC devices are designed so that you can know immediately by feel if it's facing the right way and if your palm and fingers are properly placed. Here, all you have is a small notch on the opposite side from the business end. So when you feel the notch, and it's facing you, you know you're pointed "downrange." There's no special notch or release for the top part but a simple upward push of the thumb anywhere on it will open it and then you're good to hose down your assailant. Not the greatest design, but satisfactory nonetheless.Final review:Men: Highly recommended if you're concerned about keeping your on-hand pepper spray compact. Make sure you practice both spraying and learning how to point and uncap it reflexively.Women: Still not a bad choice, but since most of y'all carry purses I would explore larger and more user-friendly sprays. Particularly something in a gel format. This will still suffice, however.Protip: wrap black electrical tape around the item itself so as not to draw any unwanted attention from having an item that says MACE on it. Not that there's anything wrong with people knowing you have a non-lethal force option at hand but, in my opinion, discretion is never a bad idea.

Doesn't make the grade
The media could not be loaded. Very disappointing. I bought three of these for my wife and daughters, but my first daughter expressed concerns about it. She said the lid was difficult to keep closed, and she couldn't tell which way it was pointed without looking down at it. She was living in the northeast at the time and said that with mittens or gloves on there as no way she could feel the 'nub' that is supposed to make it easy to aim. She said she was concerned that she'd spray herself, or waste time looking down to make sure she was pointed at the 'bad guy.' Then she tried a practice spray and said it did not spray very far, at all. No way it reached 5 feet.My wife then decided to try hers out and we videoed it. It definitely did not reach a target that we placed 5 feet away–the spray was easily dispersed on what was only a slight breeze, and only managed a few very brief sprays before it sputtered out. It's compact, so I didn't really expect it to have an unlimited amount of spray, but I did expect it to hit a target that is a step away from doing something bad to my wife or daughters. The only hope of affecting a bad guy would be if he was already on top of them or if he happened to run into the spray. I'm sorry...but to this Dad/Husband... that's not good.I want them to have protection and I am not confident this provide it. I will have to find them something else.
