Very lightweight but very strong build. I love the filter slot. It takes 2 different sizes but I opted for the 4x4 filters and they slide in with ease and stay in place. No rattles or squeaks in this lens hood which is great for video. I have owned lesser quality hoods that could be heard squeaking in the video I was shooting which is why I bought this hood. I love it and I will be buying another for my B-cam....I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great lens hood..

Very nice looking matte box and very lite weight. Like the design of the filter holder. Seems to be of great quality just like every other item I have from Smallrig. Picked up at the pre-sale price. I have not used with the dedicated rod support, using with lens support as it seems to be lite enough to just use attached with ring. I was wary of not having side flags but just rotate it to block light. The box it was shipped in is even good looking. Well done Smallrig.

This little mattebox is a thing of beauty. Lightweight and thoughtfully designed with precision. It doesn't do 15 different things like some of the Rube Goldberg contraptions out there. It simply does one thing very well - blocks light from entering your lens. SmallRig really understands how to make products that work extremely well - for a reasonable price.

Pro's: It's lightweight enough to use on my Moza Aircross2. I love the carbon fiber french flag. The inside of the matte box has a nice matte finish. I find it easy to switch lenses with the proper step up adapters in play.Con's: I would keep the Allen keys handy, as the lock for the french flag has a tendency to loosen itself over time. So I acquired a 17 Tiffen 4x4 filter set from a friend. Of course, I was excited to try these filters out. I found the channels for the filters to be quite snug and we're not usable. Being an avid DIY'er I took the matte box apart went to work. I took some fine-grade sandpaper and started sanding down the channels. After my first round, I used most of the filters with some sticking issues. So the next day, after having discovered my Pro Mist 1/4 filter would not install, I went in with another round of sanding. I am now able to use all filters and most with ease. I would not feel comfortable removing any more material than I already have. So I'm somewhat disappointed in the filter holder design. I would have expected that one of the most popular filters on the market would at least fit well. Almost all the filters did not fit before modifying.ConclusionI really do like the matte box. It works as it should. I really wish the filter channels were better designed.

Ok, I wanted a matte box so I could look more professional. I think client experience is something important and I want that validation on a good project. I HAVE used some filters like a pro-mist and an ND which I love and honestly its nice for the added protection.The flap could be a little sturdier but its fine. Quality is great. I was looking btwn this and the Tilta but I think the size on this was just better for a black magic rigged out. And its easier it seems to get the filters out of the box too.Overall great purchase, I definitely use it out in the field and for cases where I want to look more professional.

First of all, differently from what they claim, only the top wing is made of carbon, the actual matte box is made of plastic, with an external texture that looks like carbon fiber, but at close inspection, you can tell it is actually plastic.It doesn't come with an adapter for a very common lens measure (67mm), and they don't sell this adapter alone. You'll have to buy a pretty expensive set.Finally the adapters are not threaded, so you can only use square filters.Luckily I can return it and will go with something more expensive but also more useful.

Bought it for my Movi Pro package. I was going to buy a Bright Tangerine until I found this. $100 and does exactly what I need it to. Not as nice as a BT but it is also 1/4 of the price and still light weight enough to work for me.

Build quality of this matte box is excellent. It’s lightweight but feels solid. You can’t go wrong with this especially at this price point.

Light, looks legit, and feels solidly well-built. My only complaint is how irrelevant the collection of step-down rings was to me, I only use 2 from the set and had to buy another 2 and I just wish there was more customisability there.

Just what I needed. I have two other matte boxes, this one is super light and works great!

J'ai acheté ce Matte box pour mon kit de tournage léger (Sony A7Riii, cage Tilta, SmallHD, rig épaule) et ça le complète bien. Léger et bien conçu, ce matte box reste cependant plus adapté aux situations «studio» qu'au «Run & gun» - particulièrement si vous utilisez des filtres ND variable ou POL. Dans ce cas, il faut absolument se procurer le support LWS sur rodes (ou des filtres 4x5.6... $$$$). Il serait intéressant de rédiger un nouvel avis après quelques mois d'utilisation pour voir si ce produit vieilli bien ou marque facilement (bosses, scratch, etc..)

Unfortunately this arrived defective. The one screw was stripped and will not tighten at all. Disappointing as I needed it right away.
