No answer key is the biggest downfall of this text for me b/c I study on my own. I am five chapters in and already my reading comprehension and kanji recognition are improved. There are a variety of exercises to suit your learning style at the end of each chapter.

I would really like to give this a higher rating but there is no way for me to check on my progress due to there being no answer key. It's not worthless for a self-learner but it's close.

It’s been a really good step up from all the basic Japanese workbooks and has a simple clear and structured approach without being boring or old fashioned
