So solid, worth the price.
Feels great. Good proportions for the length of the blade. Nice weight to it. Perfect for my hand size (5’7 athletic female with larger hands for a lady). I got my husband the larger beast ESEE 6 knife - the handle on this one would be too small for him to hold it as comfortably as I can. I do understand certain sellers give the option of an extended handle probably for this reason. It came very sharp, the stainless looks sharp too. Clicks in nicely into the holster. Good purchase. Got it for general camping, hiking, being in the wilderness (we live in B.C. near the Alaskan border).

My new favorite fixed blade.
Sharp, stainless, fits great in my hand. S35vn steel works great and holds the edge, still haven't sharpened. Not near as brittle as s30v. Seriously you really have to abuse these to break them. Really nice chartered edges all over great for hand feel but for those wondering there are no straight edges and I can't get it to spark a ferro rod. Not because the steel is stainless but because there are no rough edgeson the spine, you could probably grind one in with a dremel. However since there is no ferro rod holder for the sheath that doesn't much matter. I was surprised I did not mind the polymer sheath, although it rides high with no dangler option. Would have liked the option of the black and blue 3d contour handle but that is just looks. The handle is so comfortable I really don't care about the look. Actually find I am liking this as much or more than my Benchmade 162 Bushcrafter.

Esee is way under rated.
Exceptional blade and has a good feel in the hand. Would recommend to anyone. Great edge retention. Very good choice for a fixed blade.

A must have
The badBought the knife on November 5th as a celebration purchase and unfortunately it was delivered on November 20th, I was starting to think it was lost. Now the goodIs Esse you can go wrong with these knives. Is my second Esse knife purchase you can see my feedback. This knife is a medium size and fits very nice on an extra large sized hand, well balanced, the materials are nice and you can see and feel quality. It comes with the normal Esse stuff, card, stickers nice box, plastic sheath (as is shown on the first picture). I personally don’t like plastic or kydex sheaths. Therefore I bought here in Amazon the BPSknives black leather sheath.(as shown on the second picture and bought separately). Now the bestThe knife is American made. Recommended five 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Awesome
ESEE will never let you down. I own a bunch of the 1095 blades and they are great. The s35vn knives are the best ever. I purchased the Izula and the 3 and 4 excellent knives

My new favorite and EDC
I’ve owned a lot of knives, but this is now my favorite! Until now, I haven’t been an Esee fan because most of their knife blades are coated in plastic, which I don’t like (if they ever make the model 5 or 6 without the coating, I’ll be the first one in line). I always carry a fixed blade as “every day carry” (EDC), and this is the ideal size for me. The flat grind, stone washed finish, and linen micarta are things I would order in a custom knife! The knife has a 20 degree micro bevel out of the box, which is where I set all of my bush knives (then easily keep them sharp with a few strokes on the “Spiderco Sharpmaker”). I have med-large hands and I find the handle size to be perfect and comfortable. The jimping on the spine is well done – comfortable; doesn’t dig into my thumb. The finger notch (choil) is not just for looks, it’s a good design feature and I use it frequently to choke up for more control. The spine isn’t sharp enough to throw a spark on a ferro rod, but the cutting edge will if you’re desperate. I usually throw the factory sheath away and make a custom sheath, but I’ll be using the factory sheath on this knife with minor mods (I did file the retention notches down some, so the knife is easier to deploy). Retention clip is solid and secure.

Almost the perfect knife
I own about 7 ESEE fixed blade knives, and I thought this one would be my #1. If the grip was just ¼” longer, this would be the perfect all around EDC, bushcraft, camp, and general purpose knife. The steel is phenomenal, the canvas micarta scales feel awesome. My hand just needs a little more grip to hang on to. I may have some custom scales made to solve this problem. The only aftermarket scales I’ve seen that try to address this issue aren’t quite right. ESEE could make it perfect by lengthening the grip about ¼” to 5/16”. I love the knife overall. I just received a ESEE-4hm that I ordered. It will probably end up being my #1, but I know from handling my SSEE-3hm that I don’t like my index finger running right up under the blade, and I’ll miss the awesome S35VN steel, but maybe the handle length and handle to blade ratio will be better than the 4.

I love this knife.
High quality construction. The only thing I would change, if I could, would be to add 1/2” to the length of the handle. It is a little to short fort my XL hand, but it is not a deal breaker.
