Q: Does serial interface control work? a message "fail" is received as response to any symbol sent to the controller.

I have not tried this. I don't know the protocol, there are several that could be used.

Q: Is the micro USB port for power only?

You can also use it to send commands to the unit and read values.

Q: How to enable the emergency stop function in cooling mode? if i enable ala setting, the board alerts as expected but the relay stays open.

You need a clip on aqua stat the opens below 40° f and connect it in series with the yellow wire on the air handler. The freeze protection terminal are to protect hydronic heating coils.
