From huge water puddle to a small trickle = WIN in my book!
I bought this for my 7 month old German Shepherd puppy who drenches the floor when he drinks. I was a little hesitant to get such a pricey water dish because he destroys everything, but I am glad I did. He only tried to pick it up once when I first put it down. But now he loves drinking the water from it, especially right after I turn the trickle on!He still drips a little because he is a sloppy drinker but I can deal with a little trickle of water versus a huge puddle on ceramic tile which becomes very slippery.I bought the medium size that holds 2 liters of water. Before this bowl, we were filling his water dish soooo many times a day because half would end up on the floor. Now we may fill this two or three times a day. I don't know what kind of dog those negative reviewers gave who said they are upset they have to fill the bowl every few days, but giving my fur baby fresh water multiple times a day is not a negative in my mind. Now when we go on a road trip, I can take this bowl along instead of a bunch of water bottles. You just spin the dial to lock and absolutely nothing comes out!!I also am not concerned about cleaning it with the ring being sealed. I will just mix some vinegar and baking soda in hot water, pour it in, and swish it around every few months.

Must-have for water diggers!
This water bowl is awesome if you have a bowl digger.. I was using one of those big tank water dispenser bowls, and my aussie puppy would dig in the bowl splashing everywhere, and knock the tank down spilling gallons on my floor... enter the TORUS bowl. Water depth is only 0.5" at its deepest point, while the edges are roughly 3.5" from the bottom, greatly reducing any splashing. However, my boy still digs so putting it on a step-stool above ground level completely eliminated the bowl-play(combined with a play pool outside). I was pulling my hair out from frustration with the spilling and water wasted, this has actually changed my quality of life. I love the locking feature to keep it from spilling when traveling, while supplying a large tank capacity so you don't have to worry about him running out of water. 100% recommend buying this.

Will do what you want it to do
This is a great bowl. It does everything the description (and answered questions) say it does. It also fools my water-glutten dog into thinking he's drank all his water (he will drink five gallons if you set it before him -- and no, he is not diabetic) when he's really only had a reasonable amount. While he walks away, it refills itself and then patiently waits for him to find it again. By storing the unused water in the ring around the bowl, it both insulates AND makes the bowl bottom heavy. When I set it down, it doesn't move, even though my 70 lb dog tends to push his food bowl (with gripper feet) all over the place. The knob on top works perfectly, keeping water out of the bowl for moving around (or traveling), and only letting it into the bowl when you tell it to do so. Also, because it only puts a cup or so of water into the bottom of the bowl at a time, the water doesn't splash out and all over the place. Is it expense? Yes. But if this is what you need, it's definitely worth it.

So far worth the purchase!
Client brought this with her dog when she boarded here for a week. I was impressed with product and figured I’ll give it a whirl with my crazy K9s.One of my dogs LOVE water and she tends to try to swim in anything possible. Which results in dumped bowls/buckets. The base is heavy enough that it doesn’t easily tip (great for traveling too). Water is always clean and fresh. Super easy to keep filled and clean. I do clean my regularly with hot soapy bleach water to ensure there is no bacteria or residue build up.Biggest down fall is replacing the filters which could be costly if you had many of these bowls. But, cheaper than bottled water if your tap water isn’t best of quality.I love that I can use this for travel and not worry about water splashing or the bowl tipping over.

Elegant solution to sloppy dog problem
So, I have two Labs and a corgi who thinks he's a Lab. The labs basically swamp the floor when they drink and we were filling 2 gallon gravity fed waterers daily. They got more on the floor than in their mouths. The corgi liked to put himself in the water bowls to play. Puts his plushie toys in the water then carries them around the house.I tried trays, pads, even put the bowl in the bathroom to make it harder for them to track water everwhere. Nothing worked until the Torus. The design makes it easy for the labs to get enough water in their mouths because the design takes into account how dogs physically drink. And the low level of water makes it unattractive to the corgi who loves drinking from it but not playing in it. We fill it less often even though we supply a quarter of the amount of water. Only problem we've had is the corgi chewed the cap off so we had to order a new cap. It's a very elegant design and worth every penny. My mathematician spouse loves the shape and name of it. We've ordered two more.

Eventually stops pouring water and only leaves a little bit
I had for almost a month until it stop filling up the bowl. Luckily I noticed it on time before my return window closed. Great concept but didn’t like the fact that eventually just fills a little bit the bottom making it pointless. The whole point of me buying this is to not have to keep refilling the bowl for a few days. With a toddler and my head these days, I wanted something a little bit reliable for my little girl. Well back to a ceramic water bowl. Still looking for the one.Keep in mind that plastic , depending on the material, can be bad for your furry friends. Always do your research on what material it’s best before purchasing. This one felt safe just not reliable. Good luck.

Love this for my dog
I love this product. The actual product is a bit large but the measurements advertised are true. The opening where the water goes in is a bit small but that’s because the storage circle has to contain the water. So it’s a great balance. One thing I do is raise fill the reservoir up with water, lock it in place, and then pour more water in the actual bowl itself. (but if you do this it would make it prone to spilling.) I doubt that it will spill though because when you put water in it, the bowl is heavy. The dog would have to get a running start to move it and spill it over.
