A good second volume
We get to see a little bit more of the action and world around our main characters throughout this volume and a feel for the world they live in. It is also the case, the MC learns and realizes if he is going to continue on his path, without losing what he hold dear, he has to change. So starting out a weakling orphan pining for a former lover, to coming into his own as an incubus and starting the path to be strong enough to protect those around him. But it is a long journey to reach that final strength, as it should be.

Still needs a bit of work…
This volume wasn’t worse than the first but it wasn’t much better. It still has some problems regarding weird pacing and clunky dialogue. The weakest part of this volume is Secilia which sucks because she’s the focus. It’s not that I hate her character but that I wish we had MORE of it. We barley knew her in volume one and suddenly she becomes the center of conflict with no chances to slow things down and explore her “family” situation in greater detail. I can’t be expected to invest heavily in a character whose arc is revealed, explained, and resolved within a 100 pages, it’s just too fast.We also got another one-off evil villain in the form of the doctor Azazel who did not impress me. I really hope the Incubus crew start running into the true power players of this world because this series is lacking tension otherwise and that can lead to a dull storyline. The last thing I want to say is that Brandon needs to do better setup for his climaxes for this series. The endings for both volumes here came abruptly and ended a little too conveniently for my taste.I don’t mean to be too harsh here but understand I can see this series being really good with proper care but it’s still repeating fixable mistakes. Volume 3 is coming out soon though so hopefully Brandon is starting to learn what does and doesn’t work for this series. I am excited to find out!

Another great work
As far a sequels go this one couldn’t have been any better! Not only do we get some insight into characters that were introduced in book one, but we get to see how Anthony and Brianna grow together after the bond. There are some tragic moments in this and some moment of love and starts to new relationships! The art in these LN’s are of course absolutely stunning!
