The Electric Power System: Generation, Transmission & Distribution Made Simple

Good, but could be better
As an electrical engineer in the power industry, the book has some contents and the author does work in the industry. Overall it is read more like his notes and thoughts that put together as a magazine. Well, I find all those bullet points useful helping me organize all the concepts together in one place. i can see that they may be not for most people to understand. Only people in the same technical field would may find this book useful. Definitely not for a beginner.

Poorly Edited, Poorly Written
This is the first book I ever have returned to Amazon. It is so poorly edited and written that it was useless. There are internal contradictions in some of the explanations. The description of "reactive power" as the glue holding the power system together was just baffling rather than enlightening. I think this is self-published, as a good editor might have been able to salvage the book.

Sloppy, but useful
I was looking for a book that would provide useful information for a non-power engineer working for a company that manufactures equipment for electric utilities. In general, this book meets that requirement. More detail than a magazine article, but it's not heavy on equations. I would give it a higher rating, but the book is sloppy. There are incomplete sentences, repeated sentences, duplicate figures, etc. It looks like it was typed in Microsoft Word rather than with real publishing software. In spite of that, I found the level of detail just right for my purposes.

detailed and yet accessible intro to power systems
The author speaks from experience and with theory to describe the electric grid in totality: generation, transmission, and distribution. This is an excellent resource for those: new to the industry, seeking to explain aspects of the grid, or consumers seeking to better understand the grid.

Not worth the time or energy.
Absolutely horrendous book. Not worth the posted price. I wouldn’t read this book if it was free. Here again we see the pitfalls of a self published book.
