No, there are no 1s, 2s or 10s on these dice. We have constructed them to emphasize number combinations that are associated with harder to learn math facts, so the numbers 4-8 occur most frequently, followed by the numbers 3 and 9. Traditional "ordinal" dice produce far too many combinations of numbers that are too easy to add or multiply for the majority of learners in early elementary school. For instance, two six-sided dice produce a result that have at least one 1 or 2 over 55.6% of the time. This is not a challenging operation for many young learners. Even two 12-sided dice produce lots of operations involving easily added or multiplied numbers well over half the time.
