Good choice
I've found what I was looking for-natural mechanical sound, compact.

Small and compact
Smaller than expected but doesn’t really matter as it’s perched on top of our upright piano and even a child can use it

My New Music Companion
Straight out of the box, it is beautifully made. I wound it up immediately and released the pendulum and gave it a slight push, and it is still clicking evenly at 100bpm for OVER 45 minutes! Much longer than another metronome I tested. I love the size, because it’s not too large (6-inches). The sound is pleasant and not obnoxiously loud - but still loud enough for my needs. Wittney (her new nickname) is a keeper.

It is a good quality product with reasonable price. If you or your kids want to improve higher music level, please consider buying one or similar product. It helps a lot.

Surprisingly high cool factor
It's a metronome. It does one thing and it does it well. What has surprised me most about it has been how intrigued my younger students are with this mechanical metronome versus the electronic ones. They find its whole prehistoric retro mechanical wind up vibe to be fascinating and engage with it much more positively than they do with electronic metronomes. They view it as some sort of neolithic relic to be marvelled at, and consequently they pay attention to it more intently than phone or tablet app versions. Who knew that a simple wind up metronome - the constant companion of my music school days - is now suddenly cool? I'm all for anything that gets students to more intently listen to their own playing and this does that surprisingly effectively. It is a permanent fixture in my teaching studio and I use it for nearly every lesson at some point.
