Not terrible
I install cabinetry and use ledgers to install wall cabinets from time to time when I'm able. After getting tired of finding straight lumber and having to drill and screw the pieces to the wall, I figured there had to be a better way. I found these and figured I'd give them a shot. I do like the concept, and the pieces are pretty heavy and stiff, and there is plenty of leeway in the slots to allow for easy installation. Coupled with the fact that they break down into 2-foot sections they will be easy to store and transport. That said, I would highly recommend that one does NOT rely on the vials for leveling. The vials are not affixed to the rails by any means other than friction, and I had 2 that were rolling around in the package. This gives me very little faith in their accuracy. This coupled with what I think is an excessive price for what you get, I wouldn't recommend them unless you have planned repeated uses for them. I do understand that they are a "specialized" niche item, but even $60 would be a reasonable price for this particular set. I think they'll do the job I have planned for them and do it well. Just temper your expectations on accuracy before you take the plunge.

Mine wasnt accurate...->1/2" error over 60"
Maybe I got a bad one, but I wasted most of a day trying to figure out why I was ending up with such an unlevel surface. I am about to put in my preslope, but my subfloor is already not level to begin with. I was going to use this tool to measure heights at the locations where I would be using the goof proof preslope wedges. This would allow me to shim the wedges to duplicate starting from a level surface when installing my preslope.I had previously drawn a level reference line around the shower I'm building. I used that line as a starting point for hanging this system. I soon realized that by using the levels in each straight piece that I was veering pretty far away from my previously drawn line. I thought I was having a problem with the pivot points introducing the error so I placed my level/straight edge under the string a level sections to make sure the joint between sections was level. I could not get multiple straight pieces to simultaneously show level on the bubbles and rest flat on the 48" level I had under it.I gave the system the benefit of the doubt and went out and bought a brand new 48" aluminum level. My original 48" level has admittedly been abused and its a plastic one so I thought that it may no longer be trustworthy.I got the new aluminum level back to the house and verified that it showed that my reference lines were in fact level. I could duplicate readings between my old and new level.I took a closer look at the straight string a level pieces and straddled a stud bay with each one, lining the top edge of each piece with my reference line. Each straight piece showed a different level while being held against the same reference marks. In addition, I nested all 4 of them together and held them against the wall simultaneously to take a pic. You could see all 4 bubbles were in different positions.I suspect the problem must have to do with how the vials are set into the plastic bodies of the sections. Other people appear to have had good results with the system so I suspect I just got a bad kit (unless others didn't double check the kit vs other levels). But certainly A frustrating way to spend my Sunday.Had I not drawn a reference line first, I may not have noticed that over a 60" span, this tool ended up lining up over 1/2" off of level.I've decided to drill some holes through my actual levels and use them to perform essentially the same function by screwing them to the wall.

Makes Life a Lot Easier Tiling Walls!!
This is an extremely handy addition to any tiling toolset. I used to to align the first row of tiles for my shower and they couldn't have turned out any better. Saved a lot of time and didn't have to worry about trying to find a straight enough board for the ledge. The only reason this product didn't get 5 stars is because the yellow rubber pieces bend a little too much and I had to use a level across the yellow piece to make sure the two red pieces were aligned and level. Not a big deal though.

It worked good, just had to do a little adjustment when going around a corner. The soft yellow rubber part tends to come out of level. It still made the job much easier.

Excellent for the novice tile installer
My husband used these to install the porcelain tile in our shower. They work just as described, and are excellent for the novice tile installer.
