Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant, All-in-One Beauty Balm, Full Body Moisturizer that Hydrates, Smooths, Protects and Soothes

This is a gel-type moisturizer that is denser than petroleum jelly and works best (for me) when applied at night. It's also a wonderful lip moisturizer, much better than a regular lip balm - eliminates all those rough patches that are particularly problematic for older people. It has a strong scent that may bother some, but the scent does not last long when applied.

I have had rosacea on my cheeks for several years now and have been using a prescription cream which keeps it basically under control, with the help of a little makeup. However, a few weeks ago I had a really bad flare up coupled with eczema at the same time (which hasn't happened since I was a teenager) all around my eyes and eyelids and around my lips. It was very painful, the eczema was weeping and crusty under my eyes and my eyes were bloodshot. In a panic I ordered a bunch of products, and this came first.Wow! I was highly skeptical as almost everything causes me to break out in a rash and as well, this is incredibly oily so I thought for sure it would make the rosacea "acne" worse. It came at 2pm and I took a chance and slathered it on. By bedtime I would say I was 25% improved. By the next evening I was 50% better and 2 days later, my skin was back to "normal." At the end of the week I went out without foundation for the first time in years. I am in love with this stuff.Reading the ingredients, I couldn't tell you why it works, but it sure does. It's kind of addictive, I love the way my skin feels. A friend of mine sent me expensive, spa-quality organic moisturizer and it doesn't feel like it does anything compared to this (and it also caused a rash).The only con is that it really is extremely greasy, your face will shine. I just put it on any time I am home alone, and at night. When I wake up in the morning I layer more on for good measure. It's the exact opposite of what I have been doing for years--washing my face often and applying acids. Now I just slather this oily stuff on. If a pimple is coming, I rub this on top and it goes away really fast!In conclusion: it works for acne, it works for rosacea, it works for eczema. No rash or sensitivity whatsoever for me.----***(EDIT) Been using this more than a month now and still no rash or reaction, which is practically a miracle. I have started using it in the day too. I was surprised, but it does soak in and become not oily, quite quickly. It is great under makeup. I have not had to renew my rosacea prescription, which was very expensive, due to this very affordable product.----*** SIX YEARS LATER: it still works. I use a light amount at night. I wouldn't describe myself as suffering from exzema or rosacea anymore.

This product is excellent!! It says that it is a skin protectant, but more over it is a skin recovery serum– Dry skin anywhere it will repair, scrapes, scratches, rash – it is unbelievable! Lips, heels, hands, cuticles…in a word WOW! I have new kittens, and have a few kitty scratches, I just put some of this “Eight Hour Cream” on it and the next day, I barely know it’s there. The only drawback is the smell, it is advertised as fragrance free, which is true, but it isn’t odor free – it has a medicine sort of smell. A minor thing for such a wonderful product. Oh, and it isn’t a creamy, it is a petrolatum product.

Elizabeth Arden makes a really nice hand/body lotion that smells nice and feels delicious - but THIS is not it. It also arrived in a beat up box and didn’t have any sanitary tabs so the inside of the lid had dried up goo imbedded in it. As other reviewers have stated, it’s petroleum (greasy) jelly and smells horrible. I returned it.

Unfortunately I believed the hype of this product and have been let down. I purchased the unscented version but it still has an odor to it & it isn't pleasant. It goes on like any petroleum product so it is greasy - I actually prefer Cerave or Aquaphor better than this and they are much more cost effective.

This is a classic product with a long history of moisturizing/ protecting skin, but I think next time I'll buy a scented version. The fragrance free product reminds me of childhood petroleum jelly and it took a couple of uses to get used to. The performance however is worth it: it absorbs much more quickly than you'd expect and stays on for hours. I find it useful to apply to hands and feet (especially heels!) at night before bed, when it can restore skin undisturbed. It's powerful stuff and only takes a very small amount to do its magic. Very effective in helping aging skin on the back of my hands stay supple and not look lizard-like after a damaging summer of sun.

I love Elizabeth Arden, however, this item shipped from Amazon, was used. Each item was rolled up in tissue paper, and there weren't any seals on any of the tubes. I am getting so sick of Amazon shipping used or damaged items and letting sellers misrepresent items, especially the faux PU (plastic) leather items.

This is a MUST have for anyone who hates chapped lips, and it also is great for those little cuts at the edges of cuticles in winter. I put a little of it on the finger, put a bandaid over, and it makes the sores/cuts go away. I think this beats all other products for chapped lips. it just works, lasts a long time. It's a bit greasy if you use too much, but a tiny dab will work well. great treatment in dry environments.
