Great for an 8 year old Minecraft enthusiast
My 8 year old son loves Minecraft and this book was a good fit for him. My son is a great reader, but does not often choose to read fictional books on his own. The lure of Minecraft drew him in and the content of the book kept him interested. He would definitely choose to read more books like this on his own time. This is the first fictional Minecraft related book that I thought would work for my son. This book is about a boy who loves Minecraft, his Minecraft playing friend and also deals with a bully at school. Other fictional Minecraft books I have found are about a player somehow being dropped into a Minecraft world and they have to figure out how to survive/get out. I have a feeling those type of books would be too scary for my son at this point. However, this book is not scary and was highly interesting for my son.Based on my son's experience with this book, I would highly recommend it to elementary school aged Minecraft players.

What you would expect
Two friends Mark and Mike face a middle school daily routine with the school bully named Ty. They find their freedom through playing Minecraft and starting a website and their very own Youtube account dedicated to their gaming success. It is rather blasé and somewhat predictable and feels a little bit like a rough draft. But it is overall fine. It should be noted, however, that the author uses Twoboysoneminecraft as the handle for the main characters (youtube, website, …) in the story but hasn’t actually secured those accounts in the real world. So if a curious reader goes online in pursuit of the real story they may/will encounter some inappropriate (mainly language) online content. This book should be fine for grades 5-7?

My 3rd grader who hates reading couldn't put this book down....
OK, so I didn't read this book myself and have no interest in the game of Minecraft, but all I can say is that my 8-year old loved it! He got it for Christmas and it sat on his shelf the rest of the winter break. When he went back to school this past Monday, I stuck it in his backpack for required reading in class. The boy came home a reading fool... I was skeptical at first because I couldn't believe he was actually reading it, let alone understanding it. But when questioned about it, he had all kinds of things to say about the plot (again, all Greek to me, but all the rage with elementary kids.) So here I am on Amazon searching for other Minecraft novels, which apparently there are not a whole lot of. A market just waiting to be tapped....

My eleven year old grandson loved this book. I'm letting him write a review... I loved the book. It was very well written for such a young boy like me! I know I couldn't write a book that good! XD although the book was somewhat repetitive like i said before it was awesome!!P.S. Don't forget to check out my Youtube channel!! My son couldn't put it down!
I bought this for my son for Christmas hoping to find something that combined his interest for Minecraft and also got him off the iPad or TV. We went on vacation over the holiday and my husband and I were thrilled to look back and see him quietly reading a book! He read almost all of it during our car ride and never asked, "Are we there yet?" or "Can I see your iPad or iPhone?". It held his attention the entire time and he re-read it several times later. Best Christmas gift by far. Love seeing my son enjoy reading! Awesome job Jake Mayer.

Great for children who love minecraft and hate reading.
Yes this book isn't in the best grammatical form and there are misspelled works, but this is the first book my son ever read completely through and loved it! My goal was to encourage him to want to read on his own and this was a good start. He loved reading from someone his age on a mutually loved subject.

Fun read for our son!
We got this book as an Easter basket stuffer for our 8 yr. old. He breezed through this book! Once he found out that it was written by another kid that isn't much older than he is, he was even more excited to read it and couldn't put it down. If your child is as into Minecraft as the rest of the free world is, I would say buying this book is a no-brainer! Keeps them off the computers and gadgets for a while, but still lets them be engrossed in of their favorite pastimes- all things Minecraft!

Amazing book written by a 9 year old - my son finally started reading!
"Dad do you know if Jake will write a sequel?" .... My 10 year old son keeps asking me every few days. This is the first book that I saw him read cover to cover. He really could relate to the story and the fact that it was written by someone his age is just amazing. Jake Mayer is a very talented young man and I hope he will not stop with this book. The plots and turns he guides the reader through are very well written for such a young writer - certainly worth watching!

minecraft book
This had to have 5 stars, as my 10year old son has not put the book down. This is somewhat miraculous as we find it so difficult to find reading material that he actually will read.

10 Year Old Minecrafter Loved this book!
My Minecraft-loving 10yr old loved this book.It even inspired him to write a book review on it for school, design & print a poster for the book, AND read it himself!!I don't understand much of what they're on about, but highly recommended for boys like mine.
