These don't fit ANY door in my apartment! Arrrrgggghhh!
I've owned the same plastic hooks for over 15 years, and they've fit *every* door in every apartment I've lived in in that time. Recently I needed more over-the-door hooks, so I bought some new plastic ones and these IKEA metal ones. The plastic ones (which I bought on Amazon here http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008VIMZRY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) fit all of the doors in my current apartment just fine.I thought these IKEA ones were neat-looking and so I took a chance because they were relatively cheap. And guess what?! Well, you already know -- these hooks fit not ONE door in my apartment. Fine, you can cram some cardboard from the shipping box in between the hook and the door to make it snug, but my point in storytelling above is that it doesn't seem too hard to make a hook that basically fits any door you'll need. IKEA apparently didn't get that memo.I'm keeping them ONLY because the hassle of returning them isn't worth the few dollars I'll get back. Buy the plastic ones mentioned above if you're reading this -- that's what I'll do next time when I need more hooks.

Door Nubs vs. Dook Hooks: Small Without Being Obvious
I needed something for the bathroom. These compact hanging nubs are very neat/clean-looking and perfect for a shirt, coat hanger, robe, etc. That don't stand out like a sore thumb the way big hooks do. The finish is modern and matches the curtain rod. The door closes fine too. My doors are about 5mm thinner than the strap so I folded a 5" long by 1" strip of cardboard and wedged it between the door and the long end of the hook. I also bent the small overhang lip in a little. Problem solved. Nice tight fit now.

Can Be a Great Stocking Hanger
These are a great item - in our case for Hanging Stockings from an Ikea Console. We had some, but not enough so we purchased these.

Great hooks but Amazon is too much - 3x Less at IKEA
High quality stainless steel hooks by Grundtal p/n 602.194.49. There are only 2.99 at the IKEA store!I used these as pegs on an aluminum framed shower enclosure so I had to cut off the hooks and epoxy. See uploaded photo on product page...

Versatile
These hooks are great and we use them to hang towels and robes. The give you the ability to move things around to different doors if you need to. They are padded so they don't scratch the doors and stay firmly attached.

just what i needed
Ordered these for bathroom and bedroom doors-they fit over top of doors and did not rub on door frames-they are not long so children or shorter adult would not be able to reach them-they look niceand seem to be built to last

Exactly as described but measure your door
I needed a small over-the-door hook that was thin because there is almost no clearance between door and frame in my house. These are exactly what I needed, and they look nice. The only reason this is 4-stars (not 5) is that the over-the-door portion is deeper than any of the inside doors in my house (a combo of 100 year old and 20 year old doors). This means they stick out a bit instead of fitting snugly over the top of the door. To mitigate, there is a screw hole in the top (if you can put that in your door without scraping the frame) and sticky-tape on the inner back to hold it in place. They work fine for me since I have them on a door we rarely open. But I slightly wonder if they're made to fit inside doors in other (non U.S.) countries.
