The internal insulation on this four-conductor wire appears to have a really low melting point. I bought this product and "Monoprice Access Series 18 Gauge AWG CL2 Rated 4 Conductor Speaker Wire/ Cable - 100ft Fire Safety In Wall Rated, Jacketed In White PVC material 99.9% Oxygen-Free Pure Bare Copper," as I wanted to have similar cable for connecting two sides of a 50W RGBW LED COB, but with different jacket colors. This product has a black outer jacket and the Monoprice product has a white outer jacket.However, other than the outer jacket color, these two products become very different when you start using them. The Monoprice cable cuts and strips well, and stands up very well to tinning the stripped ends with my temperature controller soldering iron set at 700 degrees F. However, this product has inner insulation that shrinks back dramatically and melts even when the temperature is reduced to 600F and even when reduced to 500F.In order to use this wire, I actually didn't strip the wire back at all, as touching the end of the wire to the soldering iron, even at 500F, caused the insulation to shrink back about a quarter inch or more as the wire was heated, and I could tin the exposed wire without doing any stripping.I previously had purchased "LED Cable 4 Conductor Jacketed In-Wall Speaker Wire UL/cUL Class 2 (100ft. Spool)," also made my MaxBrite, back in 2017, which is 18AWG/4 wire with a white outer jacket, and checking with Amazon, noticed that I had observed in a product review that the insulation of that product was "less robust" to soldering. IMHO, the problems with this current product are much greater than that - the reaction of this product to soldering is dramatic.Checking back in my Amazon purchase history, I found that for a black-jacketed 18AWG/4 wire, I previously purchased "Monoprice 18 AWG 4 Conductor CMP-Rated Speaker Wire/Cable - 100 Feet UL Plenum Rated, 100% Pure Bare Copper with Color Coded Conductors - Nimbus Series" - and I would wholeheartedly recommend you purchase that product instead of this one. Although the inner insulation colors are red/green/black/white instead of red/green/blue/white, the insulation stands up to soldering temperatures and heat gun for application of shrink tubing without shrinking back.

The wire is fine for crimping but the insulation on the wires does no stand up to any kind of heat from soldering and melts way up the wire. Just tinning the leads melts the insulation 1/2 inch up from the solder. I had to use liquid tape for almost an inch from the solder connection.

Doesn't solder well, better for crimp connection, don't even try to solder to led strips that are flexible.. wire is too thick and will pull the solder pads off the circuit over and over until you want to throw it all in the garbage.
