Best-In-Class Pressure Dispersion; Elite Construction
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Dean and Tyler's dog harness vest is ideally constructed, and has separately served our two beloved dogs over a span of two purchases and many, many years.Observations: (1) You'll see no thin straps that with pulling and tugging can cut into a dog's skin and fur. This vest's broadly cut and stoutly padded fabric uses the simple laws of physics to disperse pressure across a wide area. (2) The black fabric is easily washable, and has never torn on us. It looks and feels protective, comfortable, and built for the long haul. (3) Its large plastic buckle snaps right into place -- this is an easy harness vest to put on and take off.Just a top-of-the-line dog harness and therefore still a great value at this not-inexpensive price point. - (Was this of use? If so, let me know by clicking "Helpful." Cheers!)

What a piece of junk ;-)
I purchased this for my 68 lb. 2 1/2 year old Retriever mix rescue from the Humane Society in December 2013. Just last week one on the male latch fingers broke!! Can you believe it? By my calculations of putting it on "Click" and taking it off "Click" over 10,000 times and the male latch finger broke!! I purchase the harness for him in his younger days when he loved to chase squirrels up the trees. Back then he could almost rip my arm off chasing those critters. Both the flexi leash, the harness, and I got a workout. Now at the ripe old age of 11 he has mellowed a bit so I hope this repurchase will last a little longer. Time will tell.

The Best Set Up For My Sidekick and Me
To start with – I don’t like using a collar for anything but for hanging the necessary tags; walking a dog with one I feel can put unnecessary stress on the dogs’ neck and spine. Training can be a different story but for walking/hiking IMO a harness is the only way to go. Now I’ll get off my soapbox. The Dean Tyler DT harness arrived too late yesterday for my sidekick and me to give it a trial run so there wasn't any rush to adjust it which, in my case, was quite simple. My buddy, who I've had for only a month, is an older Aussie Shepherd who just wants to be fed, walked and loved, he’s not one to pull me or try to escape the harness. I still had the harness from my previous friend but it didn't fit the same so I purchased a used DT from Amazon. My new sidekick put his head right in and had a smile on his face; he was ready for another walk for the day.The construction looks solid with straps wide enough, (2 inches wide), so they shouldn't dig in and become uncomfortable. I took him for a walk this morning using a 6’ lead, he didn't pull or try to back out; he knew he was on a controlled walk. This afternoon I took him for a little trail walking using a 30 foot retractable lead this time; he knew he had more freedom but again didn't try to pull me. The handle was quite handy when other dogs approached; I was able to have complete control while the other dog owners didn't.For those concerned about your buddy performing a Houdini and escaping the harness I’d think attaching a short lanyard between one of the D rings on the harness and the dogs martingale collar would solve the problem. I made one using some ½ inch strap webbing and a couple carabiners but didn't use it.Come to think about it is there a harness made Houdini’s can’t escape?

Excellent quality and fit
Very well made! I have a 100lb pitbull with a tall mastiff-like build and he loves to pull a wagon full of kids around the neighborhood. This fit him comfortably with room to spare. I bought a joring harness for him before that had longer straps over and down his back for pulling and it was too cumbersome when he got out of alignment. This harness works great even when he twists the leash a bit. It is very heavy duty and well made.

Longlasting and sturdy
Just received a size L for my newly acquired pit mix at about 75 Lbs and it fits ok in the smallest adjustment (as delivered). This new guy is a 'rescue' and will be gaining weight, so the L should be good for him in time, but I think I should have ordered the Medium. My experience with the XL for my 130 Lb Lab was very good over nearly 11 years of his life.

High Quality - Great Construction
If you have a dog that likes to pull, jump, twist, sky skate or generally misbehave on walks, bypass the pet store harnesses and order this one. This is a very high quality harness with tough, durable construction that is still comfortable for the pet. The harness is very easy to put on - no stepping into it, no wrangling with Rover, just slip it over the head and it fastens with one easy buckle from the chest strap. The "saddle" portion of the harness is padded and sit on the dogs shoulder/back - much more comfy than a series of loose straps. Also, the handle just can not be beat. If you have a dog that is extra frisky and needs a bit of extra control when passing other dogs or people, you will wonder how you ever managed your walks without this. Very pleased with this purchase and the shipping was quick, too.

Great harness ~ buckle questionable!!!
Overall, I am extremely pleased with this harness! I bought it because I want more control over my 60 pound elkhound on a walk when he sees another dog. I am using it as an alternative to a prong collar that I have been using until now, however it doesn't seem to be doing the trick in terms of deterring the behavior. With the handle on top, this harness provides a nice amount of body control to turn my elkie in the appropriate direction if need be . . . away from another dog. I have paired it with a buckle collar in instances where he insists on keeping his head in the direction of the dog :o( My only "complaint" about this otherwise seemingly durable harness is really a potential future complaint . . . the harness seems extremely durable and seems like it will last a long time, except potentially for the buckle which is plastic. It seems to me this would have been the ideal harness had the buckle been made of steel or another more durable material. As of now (only a week in), all is in working order, but with multiple clicks open and closed in a day for walks, I am curious to see how long this plastic buckle is going to hold up!
