Gradual changes are easier
Usually I do not read books on fitness as I stroongly believe that one needs professional help when starting fitness path, but I was puzzled by the title - what those little tips could be? What I liked the best in the author's approach is that he insists on gradual changes, not starting a whole new life in one night, but making small amendments which will eventually lead to big changes in your life style and health. I hate dieting (like most of us!) but when I think that I can start with eating 1 sandwich instead of 2 or drink a cup of water each morning, the challenge doesn't seem that unbearable. The book is worth reading if your consider a life-time path, not success achieved-and-lost in a few days.

EXCELLENT Motivational Book!
I also read Derek's "Excuse Proof" which was very impressive but this book combines some of the important highlights of nutrition and a healthy diet and adds excellent techniques to keep motivated with exercise. I think it's important for anyone to find their own exercise routine. I do the P90x but my overweight sister who is 60 with a bad knee needs a senior yoga beginners tape. The secret is putting in the tape and doing the exercise and not using excuses. Thanks Derek. Derek's "snowball effect" of making healthy goals and eventually incorporating them into one's daily routines and lives is a beneficial guidance for obtaining and striving to live a long and healthy life.Derek's fitness photo says everything! Whatever he's doing, whatever his philosophy is, whatever he's eating and working out to get that kick ass body, I want to know and this book is the guide. I've read it once but I like to pick it up and read it in its parts and absorb it piece by piece. It's a friendly and easy read with numerous resources to branch on specific aspects for additional interesting topics. Derek says he combines many of his years experience for easy reference. Very impressive for a young many of 27. I kinda think of him as a current day Arnold. Very personable and a brilliant man. I really needed this book a long time ago!

Good information, lots of links.
This book really has a lot of good tips that you can put to use almost immediately. I know that there's definitely more than a few I will be using. The only reason I gave this 3 stars honestly is because there was a lot of times in this book that it did the "if you want to learn more click here" and "buy your stuff here." Really gave me the impression that while the book does provide awesome tips it is really about pushing other things at you. Plus if you're reading the book on something that can't go on the internet at the moment then it's tough to follow the links. So if I do want to get more info I will have to skim through the book later on and find all the links I want to check out.

Refreshing and inspiring
I was surprised by how down-to-earth this book is and how logical its tips are, but in a way that's refreshing and inspiring. The author ties together the physical, mental, and practical aspects of losing weight/getting healthy in a way that's easy to read and internalize. His writing style is very much like sitting down with someone who is knowledgeable and really wants to share his knowledge in order to assist in a journey toward getting healthier. I really appreciate the tips about how our mental state can affect our physical health (and vice versa) and also the links he provides for further reading. Since getting the Kindle book I have visited the author's webpage and have also watched a couple of his videos about making quick and healthy meals. I'm inspired by what I've read so far, particularly because the book isn't a diet book--it goes much further than just prescribing what foods to eat and in what quantity. I'm also inspired by the author's suggestion of making one small change at a time rather than trying to overhaul eating and exercise habits all at once. The author's tips, suggestions, and presentation really make becoming healthier feel like an accessible goal rather than an overwhelming task.

Great list of exercises to do anywhere-worth the read
Wonderful tips are revealed in this book! From a list of exercises that you can do anywhere, to ideas on how to build a home gym without draining your wallet, even a section on "health" foods that really aren't as healthy as generally perceived. I think THE most useful tips/chapters for myself personally are the ones depicting tricks to help keep me motivated and overcome emotional food cravings. I've been trying to follow the paleo diet The Ultimate Paleo Diet: Melt the Fats, Lose Weight & Get Lean in 2 Weeks Β from and with the tips described in this book, I just might be able to curb those cravings for holiday goodies and stick with it more easily.

Outstanding fitness book...not like most of the others
Absolutely love this book and the way the author has presented the 50 fitness tips.I'm a fitness professional and picked up this book as I'm always researching ways to improve training methods, discover different nutritional approaches, and how to master the mental game of fitness. The book is split into 4 sections: Mindset (my favourite part); Healthy Eating; Natural Health Remedies & Supplements; and Exercise & Nutrition. It hits a home run in every area.Too many fitness books are boring and over-complicate training and nutrition, which is a big turn-off. This definitely isn't one of them.Highly recommended.

Great advice that is easy to follow and gets results
As a former personal trainer and nutrition coach I've read a lot of books on fitness and weight loss. This is one of the best.In fact, I'd go as far as saying that if you follow the advice from Derek's first tip (which is about gradually building healthy habits into your lifestyle, a little bit at a time) you'll get better results from that than you would from 90% of the books out there. And there are another 49 tips to go after that one!The success I've had personally and the success I've had when working with clients has come from using the kind of tips and techniques that Derek outlines in his book. Many fitness and / or diet books are overwhelming to those who are not already experts - and, of course, some are just plain wrong! In contrast, 50 Fitness Tips is broken down into bite size chunks that are easy to understand and easy to follow. And it's all solid advice that works.Buy this book and follow its simple straightforward advice and you will see great results. Highly recommend.

Detailed
A very detailed read and more than worth the money.Perhaps too much information at times, although Derek does condense matters into his essential tips which was an excellent idea.I would recommend this book to anyone serious about health and fitness.

Easy read now just need to apply
The messages are not couched in techno-bable. The section on herbs is interesting and detailed and made me want to read more. I now have a lot of u-tube videos to watch and a personal journey to begin.
