Can you afford 2 or 3 pairs a year? Buy some inserts you like, it will slow the wear
Everything about these shoes, initially, was great. I have flat feet that run a bit wide and I am heavy, so finding something that fit and was comfortable all day was great once I discovered and read about shoes for diabetics and the way they ran a bit wide. And these were great. For four months. Then I started to go through the inner lining of the shoe. Within a month I was all the way in. I have included pictures of what the interior looks like currently, less than 6 months after buying them, and this started two months ago. I am sure the solution would be to buy inserts, but I don't know how that would change the interior fit of the shoe. Regardless, I don't think this should happen in 4-5 months months of wear. Will I buy them again? I might try it once more and add inserts, but I shouldn't have to...

The Perfect Shoe for Parkinson's Patients!!!!! AAA+++
My brother in law was recently diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. His shoe size also went from a 10M to an 11W. We tried many different shoes to get the right fit for him. THESE WON! They fit him perfectly, are supportive and he LOVES walking in them. I already got him a brown pair too! Having just one thick strap made all the difference. It closes securely and stays put. We tried thinner double straps and they kept coming undone. I'm thrilled that this fit him so well and that he loves them. Because he has Parkinson's, he has a tendency to walk with his body slightly forward. I read some of the reviews - some said the shoes cause this forward motion. I was afraid that might happen to him. It doesn't! He doesn't feel pushed forward with these at all. Now he wants "tennis shoes." I found the Propet Travel Fit Comfort Walking Mens Athletic Shoes and ordered them in blue and in gray. They haven't arrived yet but I expect them to have the same wonderful fit. The most important thing is they have the one wide band across the foot. Some of Propet's shoes, including this pair, are Medicare approved, A5500 coded. This means under certain circumstances Medicare will reimburse you for some or all of the purchase price. Just google "Medicare approved, A5500 coded" to find out more information. Propet Men's M5015 Scandia Strap Slip-On . I wish these came in WHITE!

Great shoes
A mixed bag - this review concerns a pair of shoes that were returned the day after they arrived because they were a bit snug, but it wasn't easy for me to let them go because the fit was so close to being spot on. However, I knew that if I kept them that I would regret the decision, so they went back for a refund, although I would have preferred an exchange for the next larger size (and I plan to reorder for that bigger size ASAP). That said, these shoes were very nice - thick soles, uppers cushioned nicely in the ankle area - overall just what I hoped for in construction and appearance. I feel confident that a larger size will result in a shoe that I'll wear for a long time. Very nice Propet, and close to a 5 star shoe. Also, the return process was very simple - I said the shoes were too small and received return approval almost immediately.

Finally wide comfort
Now I don't know how the asian leather treatment will be. Another model scuffs super easily. May need to polish often.BUT the comfort on these shoes! I have a "sixth toe" and have to have the 3x width. Toss the included insole, put a quality orthotic soft insole and then perfect fit. And the single strap works perfectly. Another thing that's really great is the tongue; it doesn't crab to the side when you put your foot in. I would have given it only 4 stars because the tread is a worry, not a hiking shoe I know, but it seems not to be as safe on slippery surfaces. Be careful! Harder to feel the gas/brake pedal than a lesser shoe.Later addendum: Continue to be impressed with these. They are a very solid shoe, makes me think of a patrolman's shoe. They are a little more roomy than my size so almost like a slipon yet giving solid support. Best shoe I've ever had. Sad that America can't produce them as cheaply, but that's what we yankees did to UK and EU. What comes around....

What a difference these shoes make!
Bought these for my husband who has severe leg/feet edema, is an insulin dependent diabetic, has had 2 knee replacements and has Parkinson's. His doctors told him he needed to find shoes for diabetics and after searching the Internet found the Propet shoes had great reviews. I ordered the Scandia mainly for the velcro feature and the more attractive design. His feet and legs take a ton of abuse so the shoes had to be tough! As soon as he put the Scandias on he said these are the best shoes I've ever had, they are so comfortable!!! He wears them everywhere including the barn...so I'm going to order several more Propet in different styles. He appears to be walking a bit better so shoes do help!! We are looking into the possibility of his Dr. writing an RX to see if Medicare will pay...even if they won't ..we are buying additional pairs, we highly recommend the Propet Scandia!

Feels great BUT!
My problem with these shoes are the Shoe itself comes apart from the soles.I can say that because i have owned 3 pairs of these. If this pair does what the others have, i'll be saying goodbye and finding another manufacturer. The good part is they are comfortable and fit very well. The main reason i repurchased them is, The Velcro, I have a seriously bad lower back and can not bend to tie shoes any longer. being over 70 years old, i can say one thing, Shoes in my younger days lasted many more years than the stuff they sell today.

Not a good experience.
The web site said to order the shoe one half size larger than I usually wear. The shoe didn't fit. You guessed it, it was one half size to large. When I went to exchange it, the web site tried to force me to replace it with a different color at twice the price. So, I returned it for a refund instead. Not a very positive experience.

Marvelous footwear!
Wonderful shoe! At age 80, I'd begun having difficulty lacing/removing my regular shoes, and slip-ons didn't have the support I needed. But these shoes greatly simplify the on/off problem, plus they have a nice, comfy, firm sole that greatly stabilizes my walking ability. Moreover, they don't have that "old fart" appearance, but rather look kinda dressy. To top it all, Propet's refined sizing options ensured I got that lovely "had 'em for 5 years" feel, first time I wore them.Overall, these are the best footwear investment I've made in years.

Very low/small 'toe box' forward from tongue
Although this shoe appears to have been well made otherwise, I've had to order some liquid shoe stretch to see if I can ever use them. I already bought some wooden shoe trees from Amazon to see if they would stretch them out over time, but that hasn't done anything to rectify this construction problem. The liquid is scheduled to arrive tomorrow and I'll have to see.Very disappointed in the lack of basic quality control = the size should be right before other finishing etc. Length and width of footbed are fine... just they cheeped out on the rise to cover your foot as though they think people have paper flat feet.

Light-weight walking shoe.
Had to return the 9.5 for a 10. Fit is nearly perfect. Bought for my 90 year old father. He says his foot slips forward a bit when walking, but this was easily remedied by a reasonably priced insole. Nice looking shoes - very light. He enjoys walking in them. Color is nice - just as described.

THE PROPET M5105 SCANDIA IS NARROWER THAN THE STATED WIDTH
ORDERED THE SIZE 9.5 W (WIDTH EEE) PROPET M5105 SCANDIA STRAP SHOES IS MORE LIKE 9.5 D (MEDIUM) WIDTH. IF ONE WEARS A 9.5 W (EEE) SIZE COMFOTABLY, THEN THE PROPET M5105 SCANDIA WOULD BE VERY TIGHT AND UNCOMFORTABLEON BOTH THE SIDES OF THE FOOT.
