I have used these rods for years. I have one in every safe at my house as well as my Dad’s. They have held a consistent temperature (70-72 degrees) in the safe and keeps the humidity at a perfect level (around 40%).

Stop humidity in its tracks.I bought the cheapest gun safe I could find. Bad move. As cheap as it is, it was never intended to live in a garage and yet, that's where it ended up. I stayed awake at night worried about humidity. I pictured my rifles covered in rust and my panic worsened. I tried some other remedies but wasn't convinced they made any difference. So I purchased the smallest Golden Rod to see if it would help. It did. However, humidity was hovering around 60%. Not cool. I ordered the 24" version which is actually too big for my safe. I mounted it vertically which is not recommended. That said, it worked! Humidity dropped to 50% and can drop lower depending on conditions. Along the way I learned a few things.I read that 50% humidity is considered museum quality. As long as the temperature inside the safe is warmer than outside, the humidity will remain lower inside. The Golden Rod is designed to be placed horizontally on the floor of the safe - just inside the door. The reason is, as the warm air created by the Golden Rod rises, cooler air is drawn in through the openings around the door. My safe would not allow for this. Another factor contributing to my issues is the concrete slab the garage sits on. The concrete disperses cooler temps which conducts easily through the metal of the safe. Placing the safe on a palate or even a piece of cardboard helps insulate the conduction. Ewe... Science! Sorta.Anyway, it's regulated very nicely which has allowed me to catch up on my sleep. I'm saving to get a better safe now.

Product works great. Goldenrods are an established and well-known solution.However, my order was "brand new" and had clearly been returned as the plug was already assembled. So, I removed a star for false advertisement on Amazons part.

So far, so good. The AC plug is removable, to make it easier to get the power cord through the safe’s access hole. The metal tube heats up to a temperature that feels about like that of a hot plate pulled immediately out of a dishwasher’s drying cycle. Due to it being hot to the touch, I like that it was supplied with two plastic , snap on style brackets. These brackets can be used for mounting the metal tube to the safe’s wall, or they can be used as “feet” that keep the hot tube off your safe’s floor. Per the directions, this “dehumidifier” is designed to be used horizontally, ideally at the lowest part of your safe.This is NOT a dehumidifier, in the technical sense of the word. This device warms the interior of your safe, slightly, which prevents condensation from forming on the safes interior metal walls and metal gun parts. Think of it like this, a cold can of beer will “sweat”, if it’s colder than the surrounding air. A hot beverage, warmer than the surrounding air temp will not.This product would likely work even better, when paired with desiccant, as a fail safe. The desiccant actually does dehumidify. Moisture won’t condense on the inside of your safe if there isn’t any. Just like moisture that’s present in the air is less likely to condense on surfaces that are warmer than the surrounding air .Overall, it looks to be a great value for the money, as long as it doesn’t break

The quality of this product is really good and it performs just as I was hoping for.Of the dehumidifier rods that I own this brand is my favorite and it’s now the primary rod I use in my safe along with another smaller rod used as well.It has definitely helped in bringing the humidity level in my safe down into the low to mid 50’s. My safe is 30 inches wide, so I ordered the 24 inch rod. Sets in the bottom perfectly.

Heats the air in your safe to prevent humidity

Exactly as advertised. I was worried about the size of safe that I have compared to the size of area that this can heat so I contacted the manufacturer. They were quick to answer and gave me the go ahead to use it. Haven't regretted this purchase for a second

This product works really well to maintain humidity and temperature levels in a safe. If you have the space for this on your safe floor I highly recommend it. I have owned many sizes of these rods to combat my safe humidity levels and from my experiences I would conclude that the larger the rod that you can fit in your safe, the better it will work.

This doesn't in itself dehumidify anything, it simply warms the air and creates a convection current. It also by warming the enviroment in theory prevents condensation on otherwise cold surfaces. I use it in conjunction with silica gel based dehumidifier and it has held my safe at a constant 42-43% humidity after a few days to stabilize.

Produces some heat to keep my gun cabinet dry .

We use it to reduce the humidity on the piano. You have to be a bit creative with where you will place it but after few days of use the piano was slowly started to work properly again
